Due to a family emergency, one of these has to go? Which one would you sell? I know the Judge would bring the most money, but it also the one most likey to appreciate the most. It's also my least favorite.

The '70 Trans Am is my toy in the summer. It's the most fun of the four to drive.

The '67 is an all origianl HO car that I have owned for 10 years, so I am kind of attached to that one.

The '65 is the latest addition, so that should be the easiest one to part with, but I spent every night this past winter redoing the engine, firewall, 4-speed conversion, etc. In fact, out of all of them, it is the one that I have the most amount of my time invested in. And I haven't even had a chance to enjoy it yet.

I realize asking this on the "Judge" board may not get me the most objective answer.

Well, since you only have one Judge and one T/A, I'd sell either the '65 or the '67. Also, if you sell the Judge, you'll probably be regretting it in a year or two if prices continue to rise.

Anything else we need to know about the cars to make an informed recommendation? Any rare options, RA IV, etc?

You indicate that you get the most driving enjoyment out of the TA, so that should be off the block. The judge has the most investment value, so I would keep it off the block unless you absolutely had to sell it. The 67 apparently has the most sentimental value and the 65 has the most current interest value. Tough decision to make. I would say that if you have enough time to finish the 65 to get the money you need for your emergency, sell the 65. If your needs are more pressing, then I would sell the 67 and make the 65 your new sentimental favorite. Or sell both the goats, and if there is enough left after the emergency is taken care of, find a new project car.

There are no guarantees as to what the future holds. Taking the investment element out the decision, you have already answered your own question.

Thanks for all the feedback. The '65 was first on the chopping block. I actually am pursuing other options to manage the situation (like selling off a lot of parts that have been sitting around my basement). The equity line may be an option, I just don't know how long it takes for one of those to go through. Thanks again.

I would probably sell the car that would be the easiest to replace if you have that opportunity in the future.

The Judge will probably be the hardest to replace due to it's rarity and since prices continue to rise rapidly.

The trans am will also be hard to replace, and you seem to get the most enjoyment out of it.

Next would be the 67 GTO, more rare than the 65 since the 67 is an all original HO car and the 65 has been converted to a 4 speed.

My answer is strictly based on logic, since I like 65 GTO's better than the other three.

About 2 to 3 weeks as long as your taxes are up to date and you have a modest amount of equity in your home........go that route. Use a local savings and loan - if there are any of those left in your area. They are just as competitive as the big banks and only slightly higher than the internet thieves. They are more likely to cater to the locals too.

I received a home equity line in just a week and the interest of the first $100K may be tax deductible.

That Judge is sharp....so is the T/A and well the others too....good luck

Equity lines can be in place in a very short amount of time if you have a banker you use often, I would say a week is the min amount of time.

Same here, about a week or less and for me it is tax deductable. Whichever way you decide to go, good luck.

I hope your family emergency gets worked out in good order. Looks like the equity loan and parts sale may come before the car sale however the 65 would be my choice to go if needed. You said it had a 4spd conversion so it must be an automatic car originally. That would be easiest to find again.

I am going to put a call into COuntrywide today (my mortgage company) and see what is involved with getting a home equity loan. My concern is that we have not lived in our house very long (two years) so I don't know how much equity is in it at this point (plus we didn't have a lot of cash on hand, so our initial deposit was pretty small).

im a loan officer and i second the 1 week count, possibly less if you get a local loan officer who really wants to move it quick (you put some heat on him). provided your credit/taxes/appraisal is in order it shouldnt be a problem, also you can get loans up to 125% of the value of the house so your limited time there wont be too big of an issue, but the farther you step out of the banks comfort zone the more your obviously gonna have to pay interest/closing costs and misc fees.

Just knock-over a couple a Liquor stores and a Gas station if you need fast cash. Or restamp half a dozen 273 carbs.
