Howard, I think it's dark charcoal gray. The picture makes it look better than it is. It looks more like fried baloneys than yours. There's rust in the usual places. The quarters and fenders are shot along with the cowl. Luckily the door and rockers are good. Someday (hopefully soon) it will look as good as your.

69RAGTO, I really like that green '69.. A car that looks a little rough around the edges but solid always appeals to me. The rallys, tires and stance are just right on that car.

here is a shot of my and my uncles 68 lemans in sheeps, er, goats clothing. i love the chrome bumper, and i love the hideaways, so i had me a fabricatin' party, and viola! chrome nose with hideaways, i love the look, wish the factory had done it. alot of work. a body shop messed up my hood,(they bought me a new one, but i haven't had the heart to cut a hole in it yet!) so i made some custom "half" hoods out of the remains, they are pinned down. i didn't like covering up all that hard work in the engine bay! it's a fun car, if i could just get that rear main leak(engine out three times) figured out.................

Davey,

I love the look of you car. I just may have to steal your "Hideaway-in-the-chrome-bumper" idea someday. Yes, they should have definitely made them that way. Great job on the conversion.

Default 1968 tempest custom

Here's a couple of pics of my ongoing project, it has a 400 with #13 heads, ram air 4 cam, th350 3000 stall converter, 4:10 12 bolt posi with edelbrock adjustable control arms the car is a sleeper. I have weld dragstars that are normally on the car. the car needs a repaint and the interior needs a headliner. I'm always almost finished with this car.

Hell yeah, Le Mans are cool too. Frustrates me how so many people want to change every one into a GTO clone.

Anyway, below is the '69 that I drove daily for several years. Sorry for the poor image quality. Scanned from an old picture taken in '96. ~ 350 2bbl, 350TH, 3:73 gears ~

That was a fun car. Had it running like a top. My friends would joke that it didn't have a starter because it would fire up at the slightest touch of the key.

I actually surprised a lot of people with it. Spent a lot of time tweeking the 2-jet and ignition. A couple people I beat on the street made me pop the hood to prove it a was in fact a 2bbl. Thought this one guy in an IROC Camaro was going to crap his pants when he realized a 2bbl car beat him - lol

But alas, had to downsize my life a bit so sold "old green". Kept the '69 GTO though!

Default Another green-

Here is another green one I owned back in the mid-late 80's. Have posted it a couple of other times and could not resist this time. Probably had more fun in that car than any of my cars! 350 HO, 4-speed, 373 posi, indash tach and gauge package, center console.

Here are some of mine. first one is as found parked beside a garage in Georgetown (DC). replaced the top in my garage. not fun, but not all that hard either.

Recovered the seats and have a whole new interior ready to go in. Buckets are from a 72 GTO and will replace the original 50/50 split bench.

the pic of the floor pan is as found when the carpet was pulled. no cleaning/vacuuming, etc.

She is a 68 Tempest Custom and will not become a GTO clone. Still debating whether I will have any badging on it at all. May replace the tempest and custom tags, but probably will not.

Am seriously considering adding the sport mirrors from a later GTO/LeMans since I like the look of them better than the original round mirrors.

Thanks, but I am not completely satisfied since I have some small wrinkles on the drivers side. It was worth the aggravation to save the $750 installation cost I was quoted
