My '70 GTO needs a new headliner to complete the interior but I've heard that they can be tough to install. I checked with a few local shops and the average asking price is almost $400 (they say that it will take anywhere from 4-6 hours if the rear window doesn't need to be removed, otherwise it will cost more). Is this the going rate? Does anyone know of a good shop in central Jersey that may be able to help me out? I already have the new headliner so I would just need to have it installed. Thanks for any help in advance.

Are you handy in general? It's not that tough to do, and with time & patience, you can get great results. Others can chime in, but basically, after removing all the surrounding trim, etc, you start with the 3 bow, glue it in the front, then pull it tight working towards the back. You can use a little heat when done to get any wrinkles out, and use a bar of soap to mark the sides as to where to trim the material at the bows. Think several of the 'kits' include instructions, and you can look it up at a book store or online. I'm getting ready to do two of my cars (71 LeMans & 72 442), and plan on taking pics along the way, will post if you like...

I wouldn't mind trying to tackle this but would probably need to do more research before I start. If you (or anyone else) wouldn't mind posting pictures that would be great or if anyone knows of any websites that may show how this is done please let me know.

No prob, give me a week or so and I'll have pics. I may remove the glass from the car to make for better pics too, not sure yet, but will take plenty of shots.
