What a piece of work this guy is...he "won" a "buy-it-now" listing of mine...in MARCH...for a SEVEN DOLLAR smog pump. I ship to US only, he's in Norway...grrr...but I later discovered he supposedly has a US address available at a shipping terminal when I went ahead and sent the invoice anyway. FOUR WEEKS LATER after ABSOLUTELY NO RESPONSE of ANY kind, I filed an Unpaid Item report (wow, was THAT ever productive!). Finally responded (feebly) and said he'd send some form of pymt I've never heard of. No further response AT ALL after several more attempts at contact. THREE WEEKS later, I finally gave up and negged him (in May). Lo and behold, YESTERDAY, JULY 14TH, he gave me a retaliatory neg-- in complete jibberish, no less-- for this listing which closed on MARCH 17TH! Thus, my 6+ yr, 100% rating is history because of this...and ebay never even refunded the (pitifully small, but still) Final Value Fee! I also, judging by what I've heard of past incidents like this, don't expect them to lift a finger to remove this neg, at least not without expecting me to agree to a mutual withdrawal (fat chance). No wonder people are leaving ebay in droves!

yep, the fact that A-holes can leave neg feedback when they are in the wrong just because you leave neg for good reason keeps me from doing it.
i'd rather take a few lumps and still have my 100% ....just a bummer that there are some on there that deserve worse feedback than they get. for the most part, i've had good luck on there. |

You can set up your selling preferences to block certain bidders from foreign countries, and those with more than two upaid items strikes. That weeds out alot of hassle from the start. I also block specific ebayers who are a known problem. As a seller I never leave feedback until it is received from the buyer.

I never understood this. I've done lots of selling and buying on ebay. The part I don't get is as a seller I should leave feedback upon the buyer paying quickly in a timely manner and making good contact. In turn he/she should leave me proper feedback based on item description, promtness to ship, and packaging. Why is it alot of sellers won't leave me feedback until I leave them theres. I bought something awhile back and the seller never left me a bit of feedback, so in turn I never left him any. 2-3 months go by and then he starts harassing me for feedback. I tell him to leave me mine for the paypal payment I made within minutes of auction end and I'll leave him some. Still no feedback. 30 days go by and he contacts me again asking for feedback. I tell him to forget it, cause he aint' getting any until he leaves mine. He in turn says he don't need feedback then. I have 100% positive so it's not hurting me any really, his loss. Whatta MORON |

Dork sellers do not leave feedback upon payment Just because they are phuking jagoffs! ebay needs to change this!
I never leave feedback unless the seller puts theirs in first, Plain & simple! I always pay and pay on time, no reason thease dics should hole me hostage. Also agree with above, I block out every A-Hole that jerks me around. Sadly ebay is becoming a waste of time for good old auctioning. They need to get back to their roots of being an auction site. Not a store with all this buy it now bull ****e OK NOW HAVE A NICE DAY! ;)

Jeff, I am willing to bet you do not sell much on ebay, so you don't understand a seller's point of view, or why many of us have made it policy to not leave feedback until it is first left for us. I have been selling on ebay now for 5 years. It is the buyer's responsibility to start the feedback ball rolling. The feedback the buyer leaves for the seller is much more important than any that a seller leaves for a buyer.
A buyer should comment once the item is received as advertised in a timely manner. If there is a problem with the item, contact the buyer so they have a chance to make it right. A seller's feedback rating is very important for his reputation on ebay. I will not leave any feedback, positive or negative, for any buyers until they leave it for me first. This allows me to retain the option of returning a negative and then petitioning to have the feedback mutually withdrawn. This is my only recourse against buyers who want to leave a negative. If there is any kind of actual problem with an item I sold I will do everything I can as a seller to remedy the problem. In the past this has meant I issued full refunds and wrote it off as a loss. I would rather take a loss than receive negative feedback on a sale. If buyers like Jeff feel they do not want to leave feedback first, I guess we just don't leave any feedback for each other... no big deal, I have a 355 rating with 98.9& positive... I don't really need your positive point, and I don't waste my time sending emails hassling people to leave feedback. Leaving feedback is completely optional for both parties. But I simply will not take the risk of a buyer leaving me a negative where I have no recourse to do anything about it. It really is almost impossible to have a 100% feedback rating, because some (very few, but they are out there) people are just unreasonable and want to act like total jerks. If you want to maintain a 100% positive rating, you must be extremely shrewd. I would say just proper honest business practices and putting the customer first will always pay off in whatever you do. I try to be the best seller I can and will do anything to make sure a transaction is a good experience for the buyer. My feedback rating reflects this.

I disagree with both of the above posts. I believe it is the SELLERS responsibility to leave the feedback as soon as buyer has fulfilled his obligation. If the buyer chooses to leave feedback, so be it. I feel that by leaving initial feedback, this compels me as a seller to stand behind my item.
In my selling experiences, if there is a problem with the item, it is dealt with at that time. Yes, I have had a few minor problems in shipping, one verifiable. All have been handled satisfactorally. If you should care to take the time to look, any item i sell will get feedback posted upon shipment. My username is the same as here. Most buyers reciprocate, but not all. All of my feedback received as a seller is posted AFTER I have left mine for buyer. I feel it just helps me to be accurate in my descriptions and photos. Three things I despise on ebay are; 1) Sellers who are feedback collectors and hound the buyer to leave theirs first. 2) Sellers who stand ready to retaliate with a tit for tat negative, regardless of the nature of complaint. 3) Buyers or sellers who try to slam the others with derogatory remarks. I learn more about the people leaving such comments than the person they are directed to. |

i had a 100% positive feedback with near 1400 transactions and i got nailed on a 1.04 item! some sport illustraded mags from the 80's. he never contacted me for a refund, which i would have given him, and he said i misrepresented them. i even sent him extras from another auction that didn't sell! a$$hole told me that what feedback is for! i asked a$$hole to take it back and he wouldn't. he thought i didn't care. that i was just getting rid of stuff. i was, and i stated that fact in the auction! anyway, i felt he got off on sticking it to me, and ruining my perfect score. NOW, i don't kiss peoples' butts anymore on ebay, and i feel better about it! there are other things in life to worry about anyway. LATER!

You can have a negative removed for a $20 fee. As long as the person leaving the negative does not respond to the e-bay e-mail request for there side of the story. I think that the feedback system should be changed. The buyer should leave the feedback first. This shows the seller that they are satisified with the item and then the seller can leave feedback at that time. I also think that e-bay should be forced to sell Paypal. I really miss Bidpay.

I do buy & sell.
I'm not a power seller but ALWAYS post feed back upon receipt of payment. That's how it's set up to work and that's how it should have to be.

I sell a lot on eBay. When a customer pays- I send out the item and leave feedback; they fulfilled their end of the deal. I have one negative- which I did not deserve, out of around 750 returned (some of those were neutral, could have been negative and I would have desreved it) There are alot of dingbats out there...

KEVGTO , 26667 and Jeff Hamlin, I'm in 1000% agreement with you. I'm missing out on 11 items for feedback because the seller would not leave me any feedback after I paid them promptly. It's got to the point that my frustration with these sellers who refuse to behave ethically has kept me from bidding on several things that I want.
