I have been selling mostly vintage toy items on eBay since early '98 and have a 100% rating with 2615 transactions, probably bought about 20-30 things so it is all from buyers. Know what your selling and describe the condition with brutal honesty and good pics. I had been collecting old toys and slot cars for years before eBay. I always leave positive feedback for the buyer first, way more likely to work things out if you were good to them. Put a nice hand signed letter in the package thanking them for their purchase and explain if there are any problems at all to contact you. Pack the stuff nicely too, like you would want it packed. I only take returns if I made an error in the description, only have had a few returns. I also use priority mail with tracking almost 100%. Never had a problem with the USPS, broken and missing with the other guys, plus I get free boxes and shipping labels delivered to my front door from the USPS. I file a non paying bidder report with eBay and the people usually pay up, most of the time they are new and don't realize they won and aren't watching. If they don't pay just relist, even if you don't eBay will refund your fees on the non paying bidder auction. Don't leave negative feedback for them, I know it is frustrating and you need to vent, but then your just asking for it. I found that eBay will usually suspend them if they lose money, and they can't do a thing to you then. I agree it is not what it used to be, used to be able to make some good extra cash but fees and shipping costs plus gas and time to find stuff has made it not worth the trouble, until you find something good! :D

Yes, it's possible...I've (so far, knock wood) only had 2 stone-cold worthless deadbeats to date, said member and rob64cart, and appropriately, they got negged. Also, to give the benefit of the doubt, I've given 2 or 3 other buyers a (+), not a neutral, after they took about 3 weeks to pay me. However, if someone can't figure out what "US only" means, decides he doesn't feel like paying and simply disappears, I'm not about to hold the bag and shut up about it. Other potential sellers will be made aware of what they can expect from him. IMHO, if an unscrupulous buyer has no fear of getting a (-) from an appeasement-minded seller-- and vice-versa for that matter-- it does a disservice to future potential trading partners and defeats the entire purpose of fdbk. Just my .02.

This is probably one of the dumbest post I have seen about Ebay and the feedback system. Basically what you are saying here is that if I win one of your auction and pay you immediately through Paypal you will not leave me positive feedback until I leave it for you. Just for the sake of argument, say I win your auction and pay as I'm supposed to and you send me something that is not as you described in the auction. I shouldn't have to contact you and tell you that you send me junk then go through the hassle of repacking the item, going to the post office and getting stuck with shipping charges both ways. If I win your auction and have to go through all this, you are getting a negative feedback. Now, what you are saying here is that because I left you negative feedback, you will leave me a negative feedback when I did absolutely nothing wrong. In my opinion, Ebayers that leave retalitory feedback should be banned from Ebay. If I deserve a bad feedback, by all means, leave it. But if I have done everything exactly as I am supposed to, leave my positive feedback. I have been using Ebay for over 8 years and have a rating of over 1500 and have never received a negative feedback. When I sell, I always leave feedback as soon as the buyer pays because it's the right thing to do.
