Larry...

"well, when you do want to sell, keep me in mind"

I couldn't resist it!!!

As I've been researching, I see what you mean, they are few and far between. Hope you didn't mind the fun... but really... when you want to sell...!

Greg.

Values on all classic muscle cars has been on the rise lately and especially rare cars. I am amazed that there still are so many early T/A's out on the market these days. The production numbers are very low on these cars and I really feel they are grossly undervalued compared to Ford Chev and Mopars offerings of the same class. Lucky for us though. If you can find a real nice 70-72 T/A under $20k better grab it because in a couple years you might not be able to touch one under $30k

I agree w/Mike. The 71/2 TA is a better car than the RAIII. The 70 deluxe blue int. is the prettiest in my book. The 70 RAIV has a real mystique. It will always be top dog from 70 & up. I got one one a few months back in Cal.

When it comes to deciding between a 71-72 automatic versus a 70 T/A, I still go with the 71-72. The tossup would be deciding between a 4-spd 70 and an automatic 71-72.

From a collectibility standpoint, the 71-72 4-spds seem to be more desirable. I had a 72 4-spd, and I didn't like it. The motor was so torquey, I used to go from 1st straight to 4th under most driving conditions. The 455HO is better suited to an automatic.

Its not what's a better car its what you like better. My opinion is I would rather have my 70 Bird than any other year T/A.If I didnt own one thats the one I would be looking for to buy.Granted a 4-speed Ram Air III or IV would be better but I might not be as straight or as clean as mine is.

I prefer the '71/72 Trans Ams. With the 8.4:1 compression ratio they are designed to run on 87 octane fuel which makes driving them on a daily basis a much more common occurrence

I share the same question about how much our firebirds/T/a's are worth. I hav a 72 firebird formula 400 with the 7k3 heads but needs mild body work (paint too).
interior has been restored and have all the trim re-chromed

Well, I couldn't help but post an update to a thread I started back in February 2005. Wow, thanks Ace770 for freshening it up. As I read through everyone's feedback, I could see I was trying to size up what would be the best car to companion my '69 TA. Well, as some of you know, I did land a new baby earlier this year. A 1973 Brewster Green SD-455. Unfortunately, it took selling the '69 to get into this monster, but I've never looked back!

Thanks again for everyone's input. It was the basis of the information I used to go on my search, and I have to say I never thought I'd land the car I did! As they say, I'm lovin every minute of it!

Who do you think you are Mc Q? Seriosly that's one nice car!
I doubt I'd trade a '69 for it... Still, I'd have to think twice about it.

WOW! Nice car. Hmmm... 69 or 73 SD... making a decision like that seems like it would require some kind of anxiety medication.

I agree with the rarety of the Ram Air IV. My first car is still in my garage and is a 72 formula 400 which I have the window sticker from Beaman Nashville where it was originally purchased (live in Nash) It was my first car at 16 and have never let go of it. I now have the funds to restore it to a point since when your a teen you just want fast (and take things out). What do you guys think a 72 formula 400 with original engine modified and a new stereo is worth?

pmd classics... I have ownership information dating back to 2001. It was originally entered into the SD registry in '92. I don't think this car belonged to Neal. I'm not sure I know who Neal is. It has been shown in Car Craft Magazine and more recently in Pontiac Enthusiast (Jan/Feb 2006 Issue, article titled 'Super Duty Superiority').

69T/A and Scott455HO, you are right, it did take some serious anxiety medication and late night phone calls to my support group (medically supported by Mr. Jack Daniels and a wild turkey or two). But once the decision was made, it was quite clearly the right one to make. It's not so much the difference between the two models, but equally important was the quality of the car I purchased. When you find a car this rare in this solid, unmolested and exquisitly restored condition, there was little question it was the right decision.
