I bought a Ram Air insert for my 66, and have finished cutting out the hood bracing, sanded and primed the new insert and now have to decide what color to paint it. Should I match it with the body color, or go with a contrast. I've seen some people also gold plate and chrome them. I'm leaning toward body color. Any thoughts? Car is Marina Blue

Paint it back body color. I personally think anything else looks cheesy.

KB66 Goat,
I vote for body color. That's what they were. I am doing the same thing, but I don't yet have the instructions for cutting the hood bracing, can you help me here? Charles |

I vote "cheesey" I went with chrome on mine. It's different and I like it - as far as them coming that way mine came with hubcaps originally but their not going back on either. It comes down to what you like someone will always find fault for not doing it how they would have or what they think is right. It's nice to have opinions I've asked on this board for them as well but in the end you are looking at it.
I would agree it's safe to stay with body color and to the average car guy it probably won't even get noticed one way or the other - except for you. It really is not that drastic of a change in appearence. I have overheard the purist at the local Saturday night show scoff at it and I've heard other's say looks good most don't notice. Good luck with your decision and remember it's a pontiac so it's going to look good either way!

Thanks. I should have asked Carl for the instructions before I did it myself. Would have saved me about 10 minutes of head scratching. Has anyone worked out the fuel filter relocation issue? Looking a the pan, I know there is an interference issue. Is this a huge fix issue?

Thanks Carl, I'll use this info for the good of the Force. And while I appreciate Mitch's input, I think I'll forego the Salmon suggestion for Marina Blue.
