As soon as the computer will let me load the pictures, I will post them. I have pictures of BC/CC and one with a cowl hood, it was done after. I also have pictures of cars going back to the 50s with the original lacquer paint jobs on them. All cars are parked out in the elements.

Ken..you are correct, I will admit that you will not have peeling clear if clear was not used. However ( and a BIG however ) you will have AE paint jobs fading in just a few years. That is the way it was..hardly seen today. Younger people may fall into the thought that using no clear means you have no problems. They weren't around when the AE problems existed. I was around then as was many people here on this board. Paint jobs did not last long when a vehicle was driven regularly and not babied. That is what you get with AE and it is guaranteed..it will happen. You win Ken..I'm just a stupid 30-plus years of painting painter, an auto restorer and an automotive teacher. You got me.

I have 3 guns
A cheap HF one for catalyized primers and junk paint that doesnt matter (if I dont get the gun cleaned in time throw it away.) a Binks model 18 ,this was my first REAL gun,had it for about 30yrs still works great. Newest addition is a Mattson....it rocks Its HVLP pressure feed and has detachable spray head. The gun body and spray head seperate so you can use same body for several setups and different fluid tips. The pressure feed will push even the nastiest paint thru. Fan control will allow you to do cut in work then switch to a 10inch wide fan without touching any adjustments. This gun isnt cheap but ruin one paint job with a crummy gun and this one will look cheap. The Mattson also comes in topfeed. |
