Default Hood hinge color/paint?

Hi guys, I just bought and installed a pair of the "good" hood hinges from Ames. They are the heavy grey cast looking ones. Does anyone know if there are suppose to be painted? Or are they already finished? Also any suggestions on aligning this god forsaken hood!!! thanks!

The repro hinges are a grey phosphate finish that is correct but will
not hold up over time( rust will pop up eventually). Use cast iron grey aerosol
engine paint on them and they will look the same and look like new indefinitely.

Ditto on that. Mine were sprayed with that paint 5 years ago and still look good and no corrosion. I think I bought it from Eastwood.

Aligning the hood can be quite troublesome but it works best if you take your time and think through which way to move it before you do. Otherwise you start over and that is very frustrating; just went through this with my 68. Good Luck!

easy if you have engine out.
Have someone inside engine bay to snug down the bolts with hood closed.
Be sure and line the entire perimeter with layers of masking tape so you wont nick the paint.
