I agree, it is surprising how different the color is. And as has been mentioned here before, the mystery of why a custom ordered car would be painted another shade of blue (see post 76).

Steve and I have also been discussing how excited we are to see those black and white stripes on this color! Can hardly wait.

PONTIAC-ONE, great question. The approach to the paint system that Muscle Car Memories and Steve is capable of is one of the primary reasons I knew this project was in good hands.

After deciding not to go lacquer, and given that a bc/cc system shows immediately as modern paint, it didn't take long to decide to optimize the benefit of bc/cc to create the best result possible vs. trying to make the bc/cc look like period paint or stopping short of maximizing the performance of bc/cc.

So (this is my personal preference)... a porcelain look became the target; flat as glass, striking color, and avoid having to look through the clear to find the color. To achieve this, sitting on top of two fresh coats of sealer that has been wetsanded, there are multiple color base coats that have been lightly wetsanded, a few mixed color/clear base coats, wetsanded and finally just right amount of Glamour clear coats that have been wetsanded with 800 to open up the paint for full cure.

That's how she sits now in the pictures posted.

Later, the other half of the work starts with wetsanding through increasing grits, followed by buffing with various products.

That's the hope Tim! Fingers crossed, I'll have the car before POCI, so I can get the interior installed. The guys there at the shop are working hard....lots of blue car there right now! Congrats on your cover car this month!!!! I hope mine can be there some day!

I Made a progress trip to MMR in Lincoln yesterday to see the Adriatic color first hand. It’s a great color for sure, but equally impressive is the quality work Steve and his team are doing on this car. Below are some progress pictures.
