Default quickfuel/proform carbs

curious about both them:

quality?
how do they match up vs. Holley?
how long have they been around?
durability?
adjustibility?
what pressure are they rated at?
comments?

btw, i'm looking at 950-1050cfm, professional/race series...probably annular boosters as well...

Holley has some serious competition with these guys. They definatley build a better carb for less money. All the Pro series carbs are pre run, have billet hardware, sight glasses on both sides of the fuel bowls, and the fuel bowl screws go in deeper to the main body. I have the 1050 anular booster pro series and am very happy with it. If your in the market to buy a Holley, get the Quick Fuel instead and save yourself a couple hundred bucks.

Sell qiute a few and run great. I like em.
Even had Mike Davis brother-in-law Ken take a well know carb builder prepped carb they recommended for his combo off and install a Quick fuel and pick up a few tens. Here ya go.

Another combo and goes thru quite a beating in the ole Mud holes without a falter.

BTW: These are out of the box carbs with jet changes only.

Quick Fuel has a nice carb. There run by a couple of ex Holley employee's. Check out there address there right across the street from Holley. I tried one of there 1050 4150 style carbs against my Barry Grant modified 750 which flows around 900. I lost 2mph. The car ran fine but the ET slip does not lie. I would have thought if it was too big i would have bogged the engine down or would have been running really rich & none of this was the case. Now i don't have an egt so i can't compare those #'s. But there carbs look real nice & the one i tried ran good just slower than my other carb.

at what pressure are they rated at?

does the whole 1050cfm actually = 900cfm thing apply...or, is 1050cfm ACTUALLY 1050cfm?

***also, would it be better to go for a 950 downleg or 1050 annular?

For what it's worth, Dude, I've not touched mine! It's jetted as it came out of the box!! All I've touched so far is the idle speed screw. : )

Scott E. is correct. I worked with both guys: Marty and Marvin many years ago at Holley in Warren, Michigan.

Marvin should know about HP carbs because he and David Braswell designed the thing! Marvin was working as the Performance Manager for the project at the time.

Both guys are straight up, Racers, and good people.

I have talked to them at great length at the PRI show. One of the reasons they decided to go their own way was they had ideas on improvements and upgrades to the Holley carb that the Powers that be didn't want to listen to or change.

Glad they decided to go it alone.

When did you do that?

You spent most of the time trying to sneak up on me while I was talking to my friends! LOL!

I am trying to go to the show again this year Kenny. Maybe this year I will have time to see the shop. You going?

i run a 1150 hp on my 505 and tried a 1250 QF and the car slowed some from the carb being too big i believe. i like the idle and hot cranking of the quick fuel over the holley.

P-Dude put a Quick Fuel on the 455 build he did for my 65 Catalina. It's a 850cfm, manual secondaries. This carb is GREAT !! Very responsive. We launch off idle with no bogs/hesitation. I don't know much about carbs but when I compare the parts on the QF to a similar Holley you can definitely see the difference in craftsmanship/engineering/etc.

P-Dude: thanks for the reminder about the pix and specs. I told Danee I'd send them then my feeble mind forgot !! I'm going to take some more pix of the Catalina at Runday Sunday. We put a phenolic 1" spacer under the Quick Fuel carb to see if that does anything. And I want to finally try those NGK racing plugs I got from you quite awhile back.
See ya there, Jim

I also have a 750 quick fuel carb from Pontiac dude. It is jetted as it came out of the box. Very nice carb, almost wanted to hang it on the wall. I cant compare it to anything else except my qjet that I had before. The only problem I am having with my quick fuel is it is running rich. I dont know if this will help or not, but It looks like my floats need to be lowered some.
