As I have 3'' exhaust system I've also looked for 3" splitters, so I've deceided to make my own. I've ordered 2 ea, 3", 45 degree stainless pipes. Plan on using my plasma cutter to cut the hole then die grinder to finish cleaning it up. Then take a portion of each 45 angle to cut off with my chop saw and weld over the hole to form the splitter. This will be very time consuming to get a good fit. I'll submit photos when done if I'm not too embarassed of the finished product. I have some 2.5" ones I ordered for my GTO years ago. When I received them they looked good quality wise except they wern't 2.5 " openings. The manufacturer just expanded the mounting end to slip over 2.5" pipe and the actual splitters were smaller diameter. That is why I'm going to make my own true 3" splitters.

I've got some 3" (and 2.5") stainless 45s myself to do that! I have a factory 2.25 tip to kind of keep the angle and separation similar. Figure cut then weld than polish them up.

I never saw the point of large splitters, by the time the exhaust gets to the end of the tailpipe, it's cooled down to the point that a 2.5" or 3" opening won't make any difference...I have a set of stock splitters to put on my '78, and I'm pretty sure they have both holes open.

My 79 & 80 both still have the original exhaust, I am pretty sure they only have one opening on each tip, & the other is decoration. I can double check, But I am pretty sure thats how they are.
