Wink 8-71 blown 75 firebird build-up complete

hi, guys it has been awhile since i have been on the board,but i just wanted to let everyone know that i have , my 75 bird ready to go . her are the specs: 400 block .030 over filled to bottom freeze plug, doubled keyed crank, eagle rods, crower cam, {hyd.} .507 lift 302 duration 114 degree lobe separation , trw forged pistons, ported 6x-8 heads, 230 cfm , ferrea valves weiand 8-71 blower with 2 holley 830 annular discharge carbs, externally boost referenced, blower is set-up with 12% underdrive, turbo 400 trans with 3000 nitrous convertor , 3.73 rear gears with hoosier drag radials, mounted on torque thrust d rims 15x10 in the rear and 15x4.5 in the front. i will try to post some pictures before too long, looking froward to taking this car to the track next year to see what she will do, will keep everyone updated, hoping for low, low 11's or high tens if i can get her to hook.

Question- did the 8-71 blower clear the distributor? Thanks.

hi, yes the distributor will clear if you use a msd pro billet like i did, i will post the pictures as sson as possible.

I like the restraint you display- 12% underdrive- good starting point for an 8-71 on a 400.

After torqueing everything together, I hope you also did everything possible to see that the pulley centerlines (crank/idler/snout) are parallel in both (horizontal/vertical) planes. Nothing in this world is perfect, but you should try for as close to perfect as possible. Throwing a belt really isn't "cool"!

I never ran carbs on a blower, hence my question- why "externally boost referenced"? I didn't think the carbs would need to know there's a blower under them?
