JUDGE INFO IN PA: TEEFEY PONTIAC
Any member from PA and knows of this company? I have searched and dont see them in business any longer.
Story was this OO JUDGE with 29 options was ordered for dealers wife, and sold to this art dealer around early 80's This art dealer in Philly (story goes) used to deliver his "art work" around in this JUDGE. I have talked with a couple from PA who knew of this story at a GTO Nats one year. Any one know anything about this car, Teefey Pontiac or how to find out more info? Ive tried clubs in PA but no reply some years ago. Anyone in PA know how long a PA DMV title search back can go? Thanks! |

My '69 Judge came from Teefy Pontiac in Jenkintown, Pa. My car was in Pa. until '95 when I brought it to Texas. The car still has the original dealer sticker on the trunklid and a Teefy service sticker in the door jam. I believe there is still a Pontiac dealer in the same location, but it is no longer called Teefy.
I'd also be interested in any more info about this dealer.

Thanks, I wrote a letter to one person named Teefey in area of Jenkintown but never got reply trying to document Judge history. I dont think PA DMV will go back that far for title search but cant get search form to download yet from PA DMV.

I own a #s OO 70 I bought and sold and bought back. I searched then and now again for info, but striking out. Im trying to find the GTOAA clubs in area to see if any member may know about the car, supposeldy a dealers wife ordered car. It has power seats, windows, locks rear window defroster, 29 options. The guy I bought it from 5 years ago and had done some research but this is all I have and I havent located him again to verfiy where he got info from. |

When I searched thru the PA DMV they were only keeping title records back for 15 years. That was 6 years ago so maybe that has changed since then. I got copies of the title to my car back to the mid 80's from them.

JL Harper - my local phone directory shows no Pontiac dealer in Jenkintown area but there are a number of other brands there. I go through that area frequently and will have a look next time through. Do you happen to have an address? Mark O.

Fualkner is in Trevose, not really close to Jenkintown but the other one is right in the middle of town - could be the former Teefy Dlr. Also the one with no URL is the same address as Eckenhoff.

The PHS doc shows address as YORK and WYNCOTE JENKINTOWN, PA 19046.
I spelled it workng also, its: TEEFY PONTIAC CO. thanks for the help. If I found the dealer that bought the old dealer would they share any sales records using the VIN? With all the privacy stuff these days I doubt it but will ask anyway (if I find the right dealer in business that bought Teefy). |

BOTH OF YOU GUYS CAN CALL ME AT 267-246-6903 AS I OWNED BOTH OF THOSE CARS YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. THE 70 CAME OUT OF WILSON PONTIAC ACTUALLY. DEALER TRADED FROM TEEFY. THE ART DEALER OWNED IT AROUND 95-96 NOT THE 80'S. WAS OWNED BY ANTHER FRIEND FIRST WHO OWNED A STEAK SHOP. I CAN TELL YOU ALOT ABOUT THE 69 CAR AS IM THE ONE WHO BOUGHT IT FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER. I BROUGHT MY SON HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL WHEN HE WAS 1 DAY OLD AND HAVE A PIC OF HIM ON THE HOOD NEXT TO THE TACH IN HIS BASINET!!! I HAVE LOTS OF PICTURES OF BOTH CARS WHEN I HAD THEM. I OWNED THE 69 FROM 1992 TO 1994. THEN I HEARD IT GOT SOLD TO A GUY WHOS SON WENT TO SCHOOL WITH THE OTHER GUYS SON. IVE ALWAYS WONDERED WHERE THAT CAR WENT!!!!! ITS MOSTLY ORIGIANL PAINT BUT HAS BEEN BLOWN IN HERE AND THERE. TEEFY HAS BEEN OUT OF BUISNESS SINCE THE EARLY 80'S. THERE IS NO PONTIAC DEALER THERE NOW. Wow, wish I logged in over the weekend! You're the missing link!!! I knew the car was owned by the original owner until the early '90s. The guy I bought the car from didn't have it very long and purchased it from the second owner. Believe it or not, I bought the car off a used car lot near Kutztown, Pa (Gary Phillips). The car's owner was a friend of the dealer and consigned it to him. The car was originally mis-advertised as a RAIV car (I wish). My brother was a student at Kutztown University at the time and spotted the car. It was on the lot for a few months. My brother sent me videotape of the car (static and being test driven) and a general description. Initially I wasn't that interested as I thought the car was overpriced at the time. A short while later the car was reduced by $2k and I became more interested as I always wanted a Carousel Red Judge. I went to Pa in July 1995 for my brother's wedding and made a side trip to the dealer to check out the car. I was a little disappointed in the car at first as I thought it looked better in the video (they always do...). But I checked out all the numbers and was impressed with the originality of the car, and it ran and handled great. It had clearly not been abused. The dealer was pretty adamant that it was an original paint car, although it was apparent that a number of areas had been touched up (or "blown in" as you say). I made what I thought was a low-ball offer. The dealer called the owner who surpisingly accepted my offer. Probably just got them at the right time as the car had been for sale for several months. The dealer said having the car sit out front was great to bring in traffic and had a lot of lookers, but nobody had ponied up a serious offer. Can you imagine an all-original Judge sitting on a used car lot for months these days? The odometer read 49,xxxx miles when I purchased the car. As I understand it, the original owner lived very close to work and thus the miles were kept in check. I had the car shipped down on a flat-bed trailer (open) carrying three cars. The driver said he was constantly inundated with people interested in the car whenever he stopped - more so than any other car he ever transported. When I went to pick the car up, I knew I made the right decision as the car looked awesome sitting there in the lot. I drove it home and the rest is history. The odometer now reads about 61,000 miles and the car lives a pretty pampered existance. I haven't done any significant to the car beyond standard maintenance. I plan a frame-off resto for this car sometime in the future, but that is still a few years away. Someday it will look like taximan's judge. I did buy a complete hideway set-up for the car, and I will convert the car when it is restored (big personal preference). Since the car was very well-optioned, that is the only mod I plan for the car. I've attempted to call the original owner a couple of times. Both times I talked to his son (or nephew) who knows about the car, but for some reason he has seemed reluctant to let me talk to the original owner. I'd definitely like to fill in some blanks in this car's history. I have a few other anecdotes I'll share with you on the phone. Attached are a couple of fairly recent pics of the car. You'll probably notice the dealer sticker on the trunklid and the hood pins. My son in the rear shot of the car will be my partner in the car's resto. Hope to talk to your sometime this week!

i can fill you in on everything about the judge. I chased the owner for 10 years for it. I have lots of pics from the time out of has rented garage to me having the hurst wheels on it. I guess the guy bought it from me just to sell it...never knew about the car lot thing. i will post a few pics of it later.

Likewise it was great to know that the car is well taken care of!!
heres a teaser pic of the car in 1993 that hangs in the rec room. Days after my son was born!!!! I do believe I was the first to put hurst wheels on a judge!!! I threw in a pic of my 65 and 69 i have now for good measure! |

Teefy Pontiac no-more
Sorry to let all you diehard Teefy Pontiac fans out there know, but the business closed in the late 70s, early 80s. My grandfather, Joseph Teefy, died in the 60s and his brother John and John's sons kept the business open for 20+ years.
I drove in many a Teefy Pontiac in my early years, but never got to drive one myself : ( Glanzman Subaru is in the location on Old York Road now. |

WELCOME, and WOW...how did you find this place...still a Pontiac fan?
I was seeking info on this 70 Orbit Orange Judge I mentioned in first post. The stoy goes that it may have been owned by a dealers wife and RAM4King says it was dealer traded to WILSON PONTIAC from TEEFY so if true it may have been that dealers wife who owned it. Any info on family history and a Orange Judge? Thanks for posting! |
