The seller just posted a new revision to the description:
""Will be back to the office on monday and will post the P H S and all correct codes for the car, remember at all times i will prove this is a real car and one of one monday to all watching but will not post the vin and will block it out on the P H S thanks for looking."" The high bid on the auction page is now $375,100. Does anybody here believe these are bids from legitimate bidders? I say no, this can't be for real. Again, the description is vague, the pictures are not detailed, important information is withheld and the seller has some very uncomplimentary negative feedback, and we are supposed to believe at least two people are willing to lay out 375K??? Most likely these bids are from bogus or stolen ebay ID's and somebody is running this up to pull the seller's chain. The other possiblility is the seller is shill bidding for his own entertainment. |

My mistake then LB2. Thank you for the corrections.
Another party had told me they bought your Judge off eBay. Guess it was a bullsht fairy tale - or an extremely crossed wire. I had thought you ended the first auction to try to get a clean clear title - or maybe it just didn't meet reserve. By the fairytales sake, I figured it went back to eBay with a title in hand. Good luck with your efforts in the future. |

I have asked the seller twice to inspect car this Monday.
I just got back from Canada, and he still hasn't replied. I am about 20 mins from the location he says he is at. I find it hard to believe many wouldn't have viewed this elusive phs, and the price is thru the roof! |

what i am about to say does not imply anything about the car for sale, just something to think about:
in my younger days i worked as a buyer for the largest car wholesaler in Montreal, i would buy cars at the wholesale auctions every tuesday and friday for my employer. i was hired as a driver but the boss figured out a had a good eye and before i knew it i was buying a couple of hundred thousand dollars worth of cars a week (at 18 or 19 years old!). Since we sold these cars back to other dealers we had razor thin margins of a hundred or two dollars a car. My boss reminded me every week that my continued employment depended on: "no mistakes!!!". To maintain this good paying job in a sea of sharks and snakes and other crooks I learned quick about what to watch for. Apart from the obvious problems of cars that had concealed collision damage and "corrected" odometers and the like I had to watch for other less obvious tricks. the first was shill bidding (sellers having friends bidding on their cars hoping to get a sucker to bid against them) which was easy to spot if you paid attention. The trickiest thing was smelling out a sneakier game, and the biggest perpetrators were the leasing companies and rental companies. they would bid and buy their own cars for a few weeks (spending a few thousand on the then $45 auction fees), not to trap other bidders at that time (that was just icing on the cake) but to create an artificial sense of what say a 2 year old Impala was worth. then over the next few weeks they would actually run their cars through at higher prices picking up say $500 extra per car for an investment of only $45. I always believed that this is what goes on at the big televised classic car auctions, dealers create hype by bidding up their own car to 3 or 4 times its value so that they can sell them (and many other cars that rise with the tide) later at a premium of maybe 50% over their "true" value away from the hype. everybody wins! (except you know who), the auctioneer makes fat commisions, the hype makes ratings for the network, the dealers fatten up profits on their inventory etc. who knows, maybe Ebay is the new frontier? All I know is that i miss the good old days of musclecars when they were just used cars that guys like us bought because we wanted a good looking, fast car to drive and enjoy  .  C'est La Vie!

It is not hard to believe, just because many of us subscribe to the Legend, are members of the GTOAA etc, in no way means we are privey to all the nicest low milage Judges, RAM Air 3 or 4.
There is a gentleman 45 minutes from here, in Wilkesboro NC that is the original owner of a `70 Ram Air IV Judge, Sierra Yellow, always garaged, but is not for sale. he is not a member of the GTOAA etc and does not keep up with the car as a hobby. There is also 10 minutes from here, the original owner of a low milage `65, 4 speed, always garaged, that belongs to an elderly man, and he has no idea what the GTOAA is. |

Allen, Thats a fact....I got a call from add I ran local looking for Pontiacs from older guy who has a trip black 70 GTO #s , bought new by him in NC, sitting in third garage under house. Not more then three miles from my house.
He didnt get online, or belong to any "clubs" just bought a GTO cause he liked them. He starts and runs it some but hardly ever drives it anymore. |

JLHarper, is the car you are referring to in the Raleigh triangle area? The `70 judge IV I am talking about is over in Wilkesboro and is a 4 speed with bench seat, no vinyl top, black interior, Sierra yellow. The guy goes to no shows or is interested in doing so, neither is the elderly man in Caldwell County with all original, low milage `65.
I have also recently discovered a similar scenario with a `69 GTO right here in Hickory. For some reason the Hickory region was a hot bed for super cars in the late 60 - early 70s. |

In the 80s, there was a yellowish 70 GTO Ram IV in Charlotte. I'm not sure on the color, but I thought it was Mayfair Maize. It was running a 66 tripower and sat under the carport of a small brick house in a 50s era neighborhood on the east side of Raleigh. I found out about the car because a buddy lived a few houses over from the guy.
The car disappeared sometime in the late 80s or 90s. I wonder if it's the same car. The owner would probably be in his 60s or older by now. He bought it new. Mike |

I bought a 70 Judge 6 years back from the original owner and it was frustrating because he knew nothing about but wanted 20k because his buddy said that is what they were worth. When I asked him if it was numbers match there was a look on his face like I had switched over to Chinese. he did not know what turbo 400 meant ("no turbo just a regular engine") these guys are still out there. Cars are like houses, some homes have the same owner for 40 years while others are like a revolving door. It seems like cars that have long term owners continue to have long term owners, while other cars can't seem to settle in with someone. like a girl with a reputation.

poncho mike, No its not the same car, as this man has lived in Wilkesboro all of his life and retired from a long career with the phone company there. Also, the Sierra Yellow Judge IV has always been indoor garaged.

Yes in Raleigh. When I said "thats a fact" I was aggeeing with you comment about some not in the "Pontiac circles (GTOAA,online, clubs) I know one guy who runs $2000 a MONTH of adds in midwest small newspapers buying and selling muscle cars. He hits on some every week for the most part. Even with BJ and internet some people still are not savy to market conditions. Some do get input from friends like man in Raleigh whose neighbor was telling him how valuable the car is. Thats how he got wind of cars popularity and decided to call. |

ok don's black ra 4 judge 4speed at the 300-400k range while high made some semblence of sense to me (ala the overnight run up the ebody hemi coupes saw from 100k to 300k when the first ebody hemi convert hit 7 digits)...perhaps same thing here with ra 4 judge verts flirting with/in 7 digit territory ?
having said that....750K for a ra 4 judge hardtop??? come on now... only legitimate answer (if this is for real) would be a millionaire bidding war...admitedly thats a bit hard to swallow... anyone close to don and have any insight or details re: whats up here? |
