Personally, I'm a stock guy. But I do appreciate the workmanship on cars like Bill's.

Would I build it myself? Probably not

But do I think it's cool? He!! yea!

Like Rug said, stock vs modified. To me, Bill's beautifully crafted ride represents the spirit of hot rodding and making your car like YOU like it. What's wrong with having every eye on your car everywhere you go because of it's uniqueness? And he drives it, unlike the perfectly restored trailer queens seen once a year @ the Nationals.

I think his car is awesome. I am building a blower car for the sheer shock value. Bill has taken this to the next level. I think its cool that it runs. If you think its stupid, consider this: none of these old pontiacs are practical at all. We all own them because they look cool. So they are all kind of stupid, but I don't care. I love my gto and I want a blower that sticks through the hood... because when I was a little kid I saw cars like that at a car show and I always wanted one.

The car IS an excellent job. I've seen it both at Norwalk and VMP. Attention to detail, quality of paint, etc. THAT'S what a show car is about. The more outrageous some of the equipment, the higher on the list, outside the "stock" realm.

It isn't all that far-fetched, either. In the early '60s, there was an early version of a funny car called "Miss Deal". I believe it was Revell that made a model of it. It was a '53 Stude with a Chrysler Hemi and a "pyramid" intake and two GMC blowers. I believe Edelbrock fabricated the manifold, but have no real info for that. I DID see the car once, when I was 12, at Fontana ('66).

Back in maybe the early '90's (cant remember exactly) I saw on the cover of one of the car mags a car with twin blowers set up at what looked to be a 45 degree angle from each other. If I remember correctly it was either a Buick or an Olds. I remember seeing it on the magazine rack at some store.......really caught my eye.

I saw that car at a show, yellow Buick GSX. The blowers were side by side. I think the GTO is nicely done, and so did HPP.

The people that "do not get" this car must also not understand the whole RATFINK thing either. This tasty, tasty double blown judge is simply a modern interpretation of that type of build. Don't you agree ? I happen to like it !

By the way, I saw the coolest RATFINK movie a little while ago, if it comes to your town, check it out. One of the things I learned is that Ed Roth created RATFINK as the "anti-mickey". In other words, the antithesis of Mickey Mouse.
He did not like warm and fuzzy. He liked mean, wicked, nasty, loud, smoky, fire belching stuff.

Cool ... will have to look for the movie. I remember when RatFink models were huge in the 60s. Built a few myself. Wish I had some now as they are worth a lot of money.

I've known Pontiac462 for several years personally. I helped him sell his last 2 cars before this one. Each one got more radical as time went by. I remember when he brought this one home, it was pretty radical then, but it evolved into one of the most different vehicles I have ever seen. I don't know a more recognized car out there today. He is on the front cover of a national magazine, he is all over most of the other magazines. Bill did a wonderful job on his creation. The detail is really wonderful. The interior is fantastic, the paint is breathtaking, this is a top notch car. Sounds ALMOST like jealousy to call the man that built such a wonderful and detailed machine stupid.

Nowhere did I address Bill (Pontiac462) directly,so if he took offense at my comments,he did so on his own,for reasons of his own.

The only comment directed at him intentionally was the "get over it" comment.

The rest of my comments were just generalities,not intended for anybody specifically,go over the wording very carefully,if they strike a nerve with you,that's on ya'll,not me.

If I wanted to say something directly to/at Bill (Pontiac462),I'd say so directly,no bs games!

My comments were made to address the "car show" mindset some folks seem to have (nobody specifically though folks...),like all that matters is "one upping" the competition and winning awards and having the masses fawn over their creations,to me it's all kinda like a pretty girl with low self esteem who attends pagents,just a kinda pathetic need for positive reinforcement to improve ones ego,but if that's what "floats your boat" more power to ya'll.

And this applies to concours restorations as much as all out pro-street cars!

My comments were quite a bit different than Bill's directly stating a person who'd own a "plain vanilla '72 firebird formula" must've been riding "the short bus" to school (which of course was a jab at the topic starter) because Bill openly stated his comments were "for those who dont understand" and made it an "open" statement applying to all who dont follow his reasoning.

I never once directed my comments at anybody,they were general statements with no specific targets,if they found their mark,that's just dumb luck...

But the main point here is this,Bill did exactly what he was pissed at the topic starter for doing,he slammed the topic starters choices in cars,and he did this because the fellow stated his opinion,when he himself says that was wrong,there's a word for that type of behavior,it's hypocrisy.

You are entitled to your opinions as well. Like you, I read "between" the lines. I never mentioned anyone inparticular either when I said Vanilla store 72 Firebird Formula. If you or anyone else feels they hit the target.....That's just plain dumb luck!

And as I stated, I didn't throw the first rock, but I will return fire. Let me ask you something......If someone said "why would you marry that stupid woman", would you take offense??? That is someone else second guessing your choice of a person. Isn't it? Same thing here. I just like hanging out with other car people and meeting new friends. I drag raced for over 13 years and I didn't care if I won or lost. It was something to do. The same goes for car shows. I don't care if I win or lose, I go to see other cars and meet new people (and hang out with old friends).

I like the car. Something different, and very well done. I've seen it many times in person, and it is clean.
