Default Quakertown Tag & Notary(long)

Sorry for the long rant but I am pi$$ed!!I don't know how many on this board are local but I don't want to see anyone else have to go through what I did. I went to them back in July to get Punkey registered. First off it had been sitting unregistered for about 7 years so the first issue I had was the state removes/voids anything that's been unregisterd in like 5 or 6 years. So I had to send for a duplicate title which would reinstate my original title, annoying but no problem. I got my title in the mail and proceded to go back to the notary. Well, I'd since gotten married and moved. After about 4/5 trips back and forth to the notary because God forbid they should tell me everything I need at one time they'd rather waste my time coming up with something new I needed to bring each visit. So finally on August 14th we finally got everything straightened out. The title was in my name and my dad's, we changed it to just me to try to speed things up. So all I got when we were done in August was a pink slip and the temp paper to hang in the back window. Which now looking back I should've wondered why then. They claim to be online with the state. If they truely are why couldn't I get the new registration with the little sticker right away? Because we changed the title?? I don't know and didn't really care at the time, I was just happy to be able to finally drive my goat again. Now the next problem, the temp paper expired Nov. 11th. I waited until the 11th then called the notary since I hadn't recieved anything yet. They said "you'll have to call the state, once we send it out it's out of our hands". I asked what exactly did I pay them for then? I got the same answer again, fine. I called the state on Monday and they said the mailed my registration and title out on Sep. 14th. But that the title came back because the address was incorrect. The registration however was mia. I got them to change my address and resend the title. The state told me since the registration was lost I'd have to fill out a form for a duplicate and mail it in to them, at no charge of course. Well, I wanted to drive my car that weeeknd so I didn't want to wait for the whole mail in thing. And if my address was put down wrong it wasn't my fault, the notary filled out the paperwork!! So I went to the Notary Wednesday night with all my paperwork. I explained everything. they still claimed it was the state not them that screwed up. On my pink slip, which is what went to the state, you could barley make out my address. I showed them this and asked was it my fault that you can't write legably?? And told them since they are "online" they needed to get my registraion and plate sticker for me, NOW! They said they would but for a $20 dollar fee, WTF? So after some choice words I left(I also burned rubber all the way out of their parking lot and down the hwy). My phone rings about 15 minutes later, I was in no mood to talk to them. The message they left was they had my stuff and all I had to do was pick it up, no charge now. Me being as stubborn as I am and the fact the last thing I said to them was I'll never be back and I'll tell everyone I know about this, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do now. My boyfriend said he would pick it up for me so I could stick to my word. So he hands me my registration envelope which was still sealed. Here's the killer, the return address on the envelope is the Qtown Tag & Notary and there is a return to sender stamp on it dated 9-29-06!!! It also had my phone number hand written on it! Now I did not give them my number the Wed. I stormed out so they had it from back in August. THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME FOR SOMETHING THEY HAD BEEN SITTING ON FOR ALMOST 2 F'N MONTHS! They are lucky I was not feeling well the night he gave me that. So beware and don't ever use this notary, they are incompotent crooks!!!

Default The Times Have Changed

In September 2004, I purchased a car from a local junkyard to drive from PA to Texas. Paid $350 for a '79 Caprice Classic V8 4dr that looked like someone danced with a guardrail on the passenger side. I went to the tag place in question with the co-owner of the yard to transfer title, etc. I was missing half my paper work and would have had to drive 2 hours roundtrip for everything. After a few minutes I walked out the door, it was the fastest service ever.

Sorry for the bad luck.

I've used Commonweath Tag service in Norristown the people there know what to do for anything tags or title related etc. They will tell you on the phone what to bring to speed up the paper work. I heared after x amount of years a inactive title gets dropped out of the system. I've had to call Harrisburg about title work and believe or not had it handle in about 5 min. Lucky I guess.

I think these notarys in PA are unique to there, everywhere else I've ever lived require you deal directly with the state DMV, MVA or whatever. Can't you do that in PA instead of going through these places?

Hello,
Radio, I had used them before for simple title transfers and it went ok, I guess this was too much for them??
Salem, I've since found a more knowledgeable notary and closer to home:) And Penndot was much easier to deal with than the Qtown notary was:(
Phil, you can go online for renewing and simple things like that but otherwise you're stuck with a local notary.
It's a shame I have a lot of notary work coming up in the near future and they just lost all my business!!

having dealt with NJ, NY, VT and PA, the private notary/insurer/registration setup here in penciltucky is the bigger pita to deal with than all those other states. inspection's up to 70+ now too. give me nj dmv any day of the week, even after dimwhitmanbrain privatized it. still get inspected for free.

You can, but the nimrods behind the counter in Harrisburg would rather talk about Yolanda this, and Taneesha that but when you clear your throat to let them know you need to be waited on, they give you the look of "No you di'int..."

I now take all of my title/registration work to AAA if I'm not doing it at a car dealer.
