Hi all,
I have been lurking on this forum since I bought my Trans Am about 3 years ago. I am now getting ready to start the resto and thought I had better introduce myself since I have a feeling I will be asking alot of questions.

My name is Richie and I live in Pleasant Hill, Ca which is about 30 miles east of San Francisco. I have the car in my warehouse in Concord, Ca.

I have restored quite a few first gen birds and I am starting to find out these 70 Birds are not quite so easy to piece together.

Has anyone made a list of all of the 1970 only parts?

About the car. I had an acquaintance call me 3 years ago and tell me he had a Trans Am he needed to get out of the garage at his mothers boarding house in Berkeley so she could rent the space.

Apparently, he parked the car there in Oct 1992 and started to disassemble the interior. About the same time he found a 1973 Z/28 and decided to restore that instead. So the Firebird just sat in the garage until I bought it.

The photos are of the car the day I brought it home. I put the car in my carport until about 6 months later when I changed the fluids and got it to start and then let it sit for another 2.5 years.

I have now had the car moved to my warehouse to start figuring out what all I need for it. My friend did some adjusting on the engine and I got to take the car out for its first drive since 1992 today. The car drives excellent and has a ton of torque. It sure likes getting sideways

Anyway here are the pics of the car at my house. I will post new pics as I do things to the car. I already have a few questions that came up today as my friend and I were going over the car but I will post those tomorrow with pics.

Let me be the FIRST to welcome you out of "the closet".

Looks like you've got a reasonably complete 70 T/A project there.

Finding a Norwood built bird in sunny California is a bit uncommon,which might explain some of your rust issues.It likely spent the first few years where is wasn't so sunny.

Other than headers & Holly,it appears that most of the important stuff is still under the hood,includung original alternator & throttle cable bracket.(too bad the original carb is gone)

Hopefully,the shaker & air filter housing are there with all the important bits.

Nice to see the original spare in the trunk.

You really wonder where some previous owners head was at when they commisioned the color change from code 26 to yellow with a "bad chicken".

The car is from Kentucky or Tennesse. I will confirm that if I ever find the PHS docs.

The car will be as close to original as I can afford to get it. The friend helping me with the restoration used to have one of the top Corvette resto shops for Bloomington Gold cars. Luckily he knows I don't have the deep pockets of those customers. Plus I still want to be able to drive it some.

Luckily it has the matching #'s engine, trans and rear end.

I am going to walk over and take some pics to get going on my long list of questions.

Welcome! I am sure you will find this forum very helpful as I have. Enjoy the journey on your restoration. I am almost finished with my '71 T/A. It has been a long process, but most certainly worth it.

Cool car. I've also got a 70 lucern blue trans am project that a previous owner changed the color on. Mine was painted white though, so at least it was a color that was originally available. If you're in the east bay we're practically neighbors, I'm up near Folsom.

Keep reading these boards, there is lots of good info here.
