The 68 ignition switches have not yet been reproduced, you have to find original or used ones. I do not know of anyone off hand who has one but you can try this guy: (301)668-0101 Ron Johnson (Potomac Pontiac).

Are you sure about that? 8 prongs? It fits your original plug?
I went through a lot of trouble finding out that no one reproduced it...I was told by more than one company that they had it only to find out that they didn't know what they were talking about.

I got it from year one. I wanted it as a back up if my original crapped out. I would post pics but I don't have a digital camera. There are visual differences. I do not have a harness. The car never came with one. I am rebuilding from scratch.... because some lowlife POS stole from the car before I got it...

I'd be shocked if it's actually the right one. You can make others work and if your plug is missing, I'll bet that's why. Mine was in the same shape when I got it and it took some time for me to figure out that someone at some point had swapped it with another switch from a Nova. .
When I got the correct used switch along with the plug, I had to rewire the ignition.
The '68 Tempest switch is a one year, one car only switch.
