I was wondering if anyone could tell me what 350 went in the 77 Grand Prix. Was it a Pontiac, Olds, Or chevy?

The Olds 350 was used in California and high altitude counties.

Guess you have to pop the hood to be sure.

More than likely it's a 301. If it's not a 400 Pontiac, which came in SJ, LJ, then probably a 301 Pontiac.

Would the 301 and 350 take the same lifters? I had to put a set in mine and I got them from a friend of mine at Eaton. He said the number I gave him cross referenced to Eaton's 350 Pontiac aftermarket. Don't know if that helps.

According to Pete McCarthy's book, there were only two pontiac engines available in a '77 GP. A 170hp, 4bbl, 350, and a 180hp, 4bbl, 400. Block codes for the 350 were YA or YB, for the 400 YU or Y4.

Olds motors were common in California, they ran alot cleaner for the stricter emissions.

Very interesting link, BR57. Since I'm not much into street power, I don't see this stuff. Thanks!
