Just thought I would like to say Hi, Just joined this group, and for the past few days have been reading a lot of the posts. Looks like lots of great information and advice. I am just starting a resto on a 1950 Canadian built Fleetleader special torpedo 4 door. Its gonna stay stock exvcept for seat covers and new carpet. cant wait for the snow to go so I can get going.
hopefully can have it on the road by summer, as its in great shape body wise with just the mechanical stuff to work on. now all I got to do is figure how to reduce the size of a few pictures on so you can see what I got

"Fleetleader"- that's a new one on me. I find the Canadian Pontiacs interesting. Is your chassis pretty much a U.S. '50 Chevy? Does it have the original engine? A Chevy six?

You are correct the 1950 canadian pontiac fleetleader special, is based on a 1950 US chevrolet model 1553, except for the engine which is a pontiac 239 CID 90 HP 1bbl 6 cylinder, subject car built in Oshawa Ontario July 1950
And it is all original so other than seat covers and some carpet on the inside all mechanicals will stay the same other than what needs to be done under normal maintenance like brakes, front end components, tires, and numerous other little pieces. All it seems I have been doing is buying all sorts of stuff , if it needs them , I got them

additional info that should have been noted for the above reply that there were only 2,737 of these produced for sale in canada in 1095 , and is a canadian model 2208

i find that the best way to post pictures is to upload any size picture to www.imageshack.us , upload it and check the box for 'resize for message board'. after it uploads, it will have a direct link to image at the bottom. copy that internet address, then when you are posting a message, click the button above that looks like a mountain, and replace the default http:// with your entire address.

maybe you knew this already, but just trying to be helpful, would like to see pics of your projects.

i thought the snow was almost behind us here, then last 10 days we have a new base of snow that is a couple feet deep.

That's pretty cool, that it came with a true Pontiac engine- as opposed to the later ones that came with Chev engines.
