What i don't like is Barry White from the show, Wrecks To Riches, turning a 1971 2 bbl LeMans in a 1970 GTO and wanting $50,000 for it as well as saying he hates Pontiac engines during the same show. One too many drama/stress based car reality shows.

This thread is back again..
I thought about cloning but decided to keep my 69 vert a Lemans. Its got some GTO re-pop parts on it but only because they were a lot easier to find. Nobody repops the Lemans rear light lenses and bezels. And of course the 455 was not a 69 option, but the big engine makes a whole lot more fun to drive than it was with the 350. Funny thing is my car is the only nice 69 vert with Lemans badges and no hood scoops that I have personally seen in years, but I've seen a bunch of 69 GTOs and Judges (clones or not.) My Lemans may not be worth near as much as a GTO, but with all the cloning it has become a really rare car. That in itself seems to get it a lot of attention.

I looked all over for a 1969 Judge Vert. But they all wanted more than I could afford, So I am cloning. If it wasn't for clones you wouldn't see one just driving down the road. Most original Judge verts are stored away only to come out for a car show or two. Its my car and I make it like I want it. I don't plan on selling anytime soon. Had it 28 years and it only gets faster and better!
Cloning is the most sincere form of flattery!

I almost NEVER see a real LeMans or Tempest anymore.....they're all GTO clones! What a treat to see a nice LeMans or Tempest. Heck, I think the last time I saw an ElCamino or Nova or Camaro that WASN'T an SS was around 1976.....Not a clone fan myself....If I had a Lemans or Tempest, I'd keep it stock outside and run all the good stuff under the hood and in the suspension. Nothing wrong with built cars, just not into the cosmetic fakery.

I'll be keeping my 66 lemans convert a lemans BUT I have one slight problem. I could use a new tail panel. Guess what. They don't repop them. So if I can't save it should I worry who I'm gonna upset? Not on your life. Give the guy a little slack. He was barley out of diapers when he wrote the first post.

I have no problems with clones. I dont own one but I could easily clone mine since it already came with a gto hood on it. I won't! If its your car build it the way you want it to be. If i see a clone hey good for you! I Am happy somebody is putting a lot of effort into these cars to make them what they should be and that is to be driven or shown off. Who cares if it's a gto or a lemans! All of them no matter what they are are not around anymore and the hobby is tough each year to keep going cause of money, economy, etc. I'd say enjoy what you got and build it how you want it. No matter what your badges say or what type of motor you got!

I'd have no hesitation in adding a nice, clean 326 LeMans to my collection if the opportunity presented itself, and KEEPING it a LeMans -- flat hood, standard grill, reg'lar tailights, column shift and all!

Actually, the only problem with a clone is when it comes to selling it ... as a friend of mine who was trying to sell his cloned '65 442 for three years put it, "You're always telling prospective buyers what your car ISN'T, not what it IS!" I thought that was well stated.

I don't hate clones. It's your car, do with it what you want. What irritates me is idiots who clone without a clue. Wrong stripes, wrong decals, 68 Judges, 72 Judges, Judge clones with LeMans or Tempest front ends, those retarded 400-4 air cleaner decals, missing Ram Air parts. Look at some pictures people! Put the correct decals in the right spots. Usually the poorly done clones show up at a 'classic car' dealer. I can appreciate a well done and correct clone, but the crappy ones piss me off.

Look ma, no scoops!!!
A hot topic again, 16 posts since mine this morning. Just want to make it clear that I have no problem with anyone that wants to build a clone unless they misrepresent the car. But in the end I am very glad that I didn't. I really like the clean "sleeper" look.
