Need to find window felt
Does anyone know where to purchase the window felt that is glued to the guides that are mounted inside the door. BTW the car is a 72 LeMans Convert.
Thanks in advance, ARM |

Our host, Ames, and others all have this material. It is called SASH channel.

Do you mean the material that the glass is set in the bottom support for the window--that attaches the window to the lift mechanism? This is called setting channel material and also is available from our host or Ames and others.

Nope. On the door skin side there are 2 slightly curved square non adjustable brackets that attached to door before the outer window sweep goes on. On the door brace side there are 2 adjustable brackets where there is a thicker almost brushlike fabric attached to them. These brackets help guide the inside and outside of the glass when it goes up and down.

I just bought a set of them for a '72 Firebird, they are called window guide/retainers and there are 2 per door in my Firebird. I could not find them for a GTO in any of the catalogs I have so you might look on this site and see if the Firebird guides look the same as what you have.
http://www.npdlink.com/modules.php?n...&func=download Click on "Door Internals and Windows" and then download the page, the guides with felt will be on the first page down on the right. They are about $14 a piece. You could also try and find some decent thick felt and replace the old felt on your existing guides. I ended up doing that on my front window track felt as I didn't want to have to buy a whole new track just to get the new felt. |
