Racing oil pan suggestions?
What oil pans are you guys running on your '63 racecars? Must be able to fit with the stock unmodified V8 crossmember.
I currently have a Canton #15-450 road race pan that I got with an engine I purchased. I have no idea if it will fit.

Thats what I have on if it is the one for early A bodies. I tried a Moroso, and it hung down way to far. I have been happy with the Canton. It sets level with the back of the factory crossmember(frontend). They also have a matching windage tray, Pick up tube and external Dipstick that also work great.

Sorry, I don't know if that one fits, this is what is on mine. Stockframe, it is set back a couple inches but I don't think that would matter.

Fully baffled, like the #15-450 for the oil control needed in Road Race applications. FEATURES: Triple Trap door baffles and 2 runners, removable windage tray, temp. fitting, magnetic drain plug. SIZE: 8" Deep, 8" Long sump gives a 6 quart system capacity. Fits all popular chassis including G.T.O.'s and 67'-69' F Bodies. Might not clear some stock exhaust systems, please measure for clearance. PICKUPS: #15-401 pickup (3/4" O.D.) for High Pressure Pump #M54DS. OPTIONS: #20-918 one way screen can be used with this pan. #20-918P Pro Style Windage Tray can be used with this pan. We recommend the use of an “ACCUSUMP” in competitive road race

I have a deep Moroso pan on my 4 cyl engine .I used one when I first built the car and only needed to cut some small notches in the stock V8 cradle. I put a taper into the front of the Moroso pan sump to make it possible to instal the engine with the scattershield on.
The other pix are the custom pan I use with the V8 engine. I had to have a relief cut into the crossmember to use it but no major surgery. |

I don't think it's going to fit. It's quite a bit bigger than the Canton GTO pan. I'll have to give it a try on the 455 dummy block first. Do you guys think that the differences with the pan rail mounting points (extra height) between the standard Pontiac block and the IA2 block will be enough to make finding a pan that fits a big PITA?
