Unhappy Front disc brake convertion kit - caliper bracket within tolerances?

The disc brake assembly I recieved was pre-assemled and suppose to bolt right up to the ball joints. The caliper brackets, however, do not seem to allow the caliper to sit correctly on the drivers side assembly. After bending the brackets a bit, and trying to square up the caliper pins so they are perpendicular to the rotor I was able to get the calipers on. The drivers side outer brake pad just barely was able to be inserted. It fits flush and does not seem to rub on the rotor that much.

The assembly on the other side (passenger side) had about 1/8 inch more clearance on the outer brake pad during installation.

The manipulation of the caliper braket on the drivers side that was required to enable it to accept the caliper and pads also caused the brake pads to sit about 1/16 inch closer to the center of the rotor hub.

QUESTION: Will the position of the front disc brake pads located 1/16 inch closer to the center of the rotor disc cause noticeable difference in grab compared to the normal passenger side disc brake assembly?

Thanks for any help you all could offer.

not familar with this set up.
Does it have "ears" that need to be bent once the assembly is installed?
what retains the pads? does a pin(s) go thru it?
I would have at least called them and told them it wasnt right.
Now that youve bent it yourself they probably wont take it back.

Use some spacers to get it to sit centered. I just went through this on a Wilwood conversion front and back. Neither fit without using shims to center.

Default Thanks

I bought a new pair of caliper brackets from CPP ($99) which seem to have been stamped to better specifications compared to the brackets that came in the conversion kit back in 2003. The calipers fit great now.

For a real decent disc swap and also the best price. Look inso the trueconnections.com web page. I bought everything from pre bent lines, booster (cad plated) master. and all new parts for a tad over $600.00 shipped. MOst complete set after reading and looking at others. Also, they can do a cheap upgrade to the system for 12" brakes for very little... Will be buying my second set in the next couple of weeks. AND, everything went on like it was made at the GM factory for my 67 GTO.
