I recieved an auction advertisement packaged with my Hemmings this month. It shows a white Tempest wagon and a white LeMans are to be sold on Sat May 26 at the Mecum auction in Belvidere, Illinois.

Are these the same cars that were sold at a Mecum auction last Fall?

If they are the same, anyone know why they are being resold?

It does not say anything about the history of ownership or the restoration. Does anyone know more about these cars?

I may go just to see these and some of the other interesting cars that will be there. Has anyone been before? Does the general public (non-bidding) have access to see the cars? Is there an admission fee?

the wagon was done by Scott Tieman and the coupe was done by factory muscle in AZ.They are the only complete factory cars left.I believe Mecom was a partner in the purchace of both cars for resale.Tom

Is the Lemans the one that was bought last year by a collector from Minnesota? I forget his name at the moment, but he brought it to one of the local car shows last August.

The Guys name is Fred Englehart, he's a collector/broker of alot of factory drag car (mainly mopars) and muscle cars, saw an article in MCR about him and it talks about why he bought the wagon and a couple other cars at Mecum, basically for resale! i know i'd like to park both those SD's in my garage! but I don't have 1 to 2 mill in the bank!

That's it! His name was on the tip of my tongue... He's always buying and selling Hemi Darts and all kinds of ultra rare cars. His shop is in the tiny town of Elkton, which is halfway between Austin and Rochester, MN. I understand he hosts a car show there every summer that's really something - I need to find out when it is and check it out.

There was an article in the Minneapolis paper about him last year. He started out small, just buying and fixing up old cars in his spare time like anyone else, but eventually made it his full time occupation and worked his way up the ladder to the big leagues.
