Default Power Antenna Mast Comes Apart

The second and third sections of my power antenna mast come apart when extending the antenna. What is the "catch" piece or clip that keeps the sections together when they are extended and where can I find it?

In the service manual it gives no instructions on the mast except to replace it.

From all other antennas I've seen the sections are flared inward at the top and outward at the bottom so that when the bottom of one setion meets the top of another the flares contact each other preventing the sections from coming apart.

You could try to press the inward flare at the top of each setion in but make sure you do it while the other sevtion is in place or you won't get them back together again.

Anything to do with power antennas on our cars when there is a problem is a real pain. Basically nothing is repro'd for them besides some mounting hardware.

I had a guy years ago rebuild my mast and I think I might have his # in my car file. Give me a few days and I will try to look it up. He was an oldtimer then so who knows if he is still around. Try to look in Hemmings under SERVICES OFFERED and see whats in there too.

Found the guy, in Hemmings and still around apparently-

ANTENNAS: 1953-69 Buick power antennas expertly rebuilt, show quality mast, year guarantee, details: see Cadillac. Klaus Wojak, 828-898-9338, NC.

Mine is still working great almost 10 years later. Good luck.

Might be also be cheaper to find a used one that works. An incomplete set up is still pretty cheap.
