Any recommendations for the best place to get replacement carpeting for a '64 GTO? I'm looking to replace some faded black carpeting in my car and I see a lot of places advertise theirs is the best.

Also what is the correct backng to use with the new stuff? I'm surely not a carpet layer so I'm looking for all the help I can get to do a really nice job.

Call our host or Ames. They will tell you who makes carpeting for our GTO's. I think there are only two manufacturers currently making the carpeting. I've noticed fading in many replacement AND original carpets. It seems to me that the way most of us use and store our GTO's fading would not be a problem for many years. The important quality would be fit and appearance.

Note that both the above vendors sell padding/backing/insulation, which is a must to get good fit and sound/heat deadening.

The fade to brown of my black carpeting is only occuring around the trannie hump in the front. The rest looks good. But I need to return it to 100% black. Looks like a big Golden Lab's been sleeping on it.

The carpet my Dad bought from some vendor at a local swap meet ended up being too short, didn't even meet the kick panels. We had to piece some in to cover the bare spots there. Now we are raising the hump for the Tremec overdrive and we want a vendor that gives enough extra material to begin with so we don't get stuck in the same dilema as before.
