I have a 1971 GTO with a 455 engine and would like to add the ram air package to it. Are there any sources where I can find the parts and how much they cost? Thanks, JHR

Performance Years has the reproduction parts.
If you want original, go rob a bank first.

The repro stuff won't be around forever either. Get them while you can.

Demand. I've seen some good repro stuff in the past stop being reproduced due to lack of demand or high cost to reproduce. A friend talked to Garnder exhaust about 72 exhaust, but they don't have any more in stock and don't plan on making any more due to lack of demand. They said they would consider making another couple sets if there was a demand. Just because they repro a product now doesn't mean it will always be the case 5 years from now.

oh is the air cleaner available? i've seen it in 2 catalogs. both said backordered...for years. ordered one from opg...was featured item in the front pages of their catalog...months later, the manager told me he had never seen one. ALOT of hard to get 71 gto parts are in catalogs. call and check availability BEFORE you send your money.

I was just on line chatting with Stacey in the customer service dept at Performance Years, she shows several parts to convert a 71 to Ram Air. I have her working up a list of parts and pricing to do a full conversion. I have a 71 LeMans GTO Judge clone (I call it my Le Judge
It has a NOS steel GTO hood and the non Ram Air double snorkle breather. Stacey says they offer the pan to go on the underside of the hood, the new breather and the kit to make it functional, the cables, brackets, etc to install the operating lever inside the car and the hood to breather boots or seals. I'll let you know what I hear back from them.

No cables on 71-72 RA system or inside lever or any controls. You have to drill holes in hood for upper pan. Sure you want to do that to a solid hood?

Thanks for the clarification. I knew I'd have to drill holes but isn't it only on the structural frame and not the skin? I guess the real question to answer is will there be any significant performance increase once coverted to Ram Air?
