Is there a reproduced outside door handle set that will work on a 63 or do I need to get mine to the chromer?

There is a posting on the little indians site where one claims the handles for a '69 camaro (which are common reproduction finds) will fit. They claim there is a very slight difference but wouldn't notice unless side by side. May want to compare yourself. Would to see chevy stuff on a poncho , though.

I bought some reproduction handles listed as "63-66 front and rear, 60 rear" for Pontiac full size models. They look identical and fit fine after trimming 1/2" from the stem which goes inside the door to trip the latch.

I replaced mine with ones from a 69 impala. Like SD stanley said....just had to grind down the finger that touches the internal latch. Looks just like the originals. Other GM handle from that era might also work. Let us know what worked.

Interesting find when putting my door handles back together after getting them re-chromed. I used the best handles I had to get re-chromed and didn't know/notice that the part used to hold the button in place were different in thickness. When I went to install it wouldn't twist into place as it should and the first one did. I can see why they changed the design, the thin one will break out as you need to apply downward pressure while twisting.

64 GTO will work but they tip down just a bit (know one will know). The rod behind the button is a little short. I cut and drilled a rod for the rod to slid in. Been good for last 12 yrs.
