Just messin' with you Tom! (Got tired of working on the SSer and was taking a break) ![]() ![]() ![]() Our RA-V 69 TA made around 860HP(440 cu in) and went almost 147MPH (3500lbs w/driver). About 10 years afterwards I took the tires and wheels off and weighed them when I got the new SS wheels and tires. The SSer total weight for a 14.5 X 33's including 14 inch Monocoques was 42lbs. The old centerlines with slicks were 65lbs. With all the drive train technology of today that car would be well over 150MPH. I will admit that the Doug Nash 5spd helped a bunch. My new Procharged street motor will get close (mid 900's). Simply running better gas and upping the boost a little would easily get me there. I figure ~29K. Flywheel to balancer, oil pan to throttle body. Procharger with drive, mount, intercooler and plumbing. All good parts. IA-2, billet crank, EFI, etc. With some parts swaps, you could do it for under 25 easily (boosted).

I have over $14k of parts sitting in the garage at the moment in pursuit of 1k hp turbocharged. Maybe someday i'll have what I need to finish it (about another $8k). Money is tight right now

This was an expensive build for me...cant say Id do it again...but if you stop by KRE's display this weekend...my motor will be on display...havent had time to go pick it up so I bartered w Jeff to bring it to Norwalk so I coiuld pick it up and he agreed as long as he could put it on display for the weekend...its a 540 w a wenzler gustram and 2 1050's. It may disappear if I blow my motor up and I need to do a quick swap.

"another vote for no, I made 991 with a single 4 intake, 525 cid and heads that flowed 380 @ 28". (2) 4's on a tunnel ram would have made 1,000." Quote by GTOKID: kre/NA/1000? What do we know?: A 380 head will make 1000+ per John. The Kauffmans advertise the ability to create a 380 cfm head. John L. runs high rpm We alread know that the Kauffmans spin the blazes out of their engines. Question is will it live like a BES engine? The engine is an engine that the Kauffmans could duplicate Maybe as far as stroke, bore, head flow, camshaft, valve train, induction, exhaust, etc but you still have the durability factor with ANY high rpm engine. Yep, I think that they could make 1000 HP NA. When, how many tries, for how long, cost, all factor into the equation. Tony B obviously knows how to do it on a National Professional Basis. Tom V.

Jack G fixed the trans yesterday and we borrowed Langer's back up converter for this upcoming weekend. That converter was actually headed into Frank G's Grand Am, but I had to intercept it before it got to Frank. (sorry Frank)Not sure what John's converter will do in my long stroke engine, but it's all we have right now. Me, Langer and Bruce all broke our transmissions at Cecil on Saturday. Must have been something in the 96 degree air. |
