Default 1979 Silver Anniversary Trans-Am Value??

What is the value of a 1979 Silver Anniversary Trans-Am? Original owner, 68K miles and the only visible option that I saw driving by was T-Tops. I will find out more later today, thank you for the input!!!!!!

The value will depend on the condition of the car. Paint? Interior? Underside? Etc...

Auto or 4-speed will also have a dramatic effect on values.

68,000 original miles or has speedo rolled over? Proof?

The 10th was probably the most loaded firebird available up tp '79. If memory serves, the only "option" was auto/403 or manual/400. The manual/400 gave the buyer a credit on cruise.

Post some pics as without the above information, the value of the car could be anywhere on the board.

OK, I went over to take a look at the car and it is in excellent condition. The current owner took ownership from his brother, and yes the mileage is original at 58K. He repainted the car 3yrs ago, base/clear with a new decal set. Car has a few minor blemishes with a small scratch in one quarter and a small dent in another. Interior is original and in average condition. AUTOMATIC, with the usual options for the limited edition silver anniversary edition. New exhaust, and tires. The car runs/drives extremely tight with no abnormal sounds coming from the drive-train whatsoever. I forgot my camera, so no pictures. Give me some ideas of what it is worth please!!!! Thank you in advance.

I would say somewhere in the area of 13,000 to 15,000 dollars. If it had the pontiac 400 with a 4 speed, it would be in the low 20's. It has a 403 olds engine in it being that it is an automatic. That hurts it somewhat. It is still a sharp car. My 78 Platinum T/A is the same color. I like the silver interiors in the 10th anniversary cars. Good luck.

There are similar TATA's on eBay fairly often, so you can get a good idea of what they are bidding up to by watching the auctions. Also, go to www.collectorcartrader.com and search for 79 Trans Ams and there are sometimes TATA's there for sale.
Prices can be all over the place.
I think the low side of Turbo's estimate is probably close, judging from your description of the condition.

If you can take a bunch of exterior, interior pictures & post them. We can come up with a good idea for you. If you are serious about buying it, be sure to ask about documentation on the miliage & previous ownership. Thats a big one when its that low. If I was in the market, & the owners had no docs on the history or miles, I wouldn't pay as much for that reason alone, But that's just me. The repaint is common. Mine has 41K miles on it, & there are several small spots were the silver has literally flaked off to the black primer. I wouldn't think the interior should look to bad?

I would say $8,500-$12,000 tops.

Sounds the paint is above average and the interior is fair. Guessing the engine bay has not been touched up and the underside is original as well.
