Just wondering if any one might have any info on the 1LE package on the 1991 TA.
Possible options and production #s. Might have found one with a 305 5speed for a buddy. Although it has T roofs and appears to have leather seats which I believe were not available. Thanks. |

NO a/c! Should have big brakes and aluminum driveshaft, as well. Not sure about other options. Neat cars, though. I thought they were all 350s? Ron

IIRC, to get a 5 speed you could only get the 305. With the 350 you could only get the automatic. And yes they are neat cars. Did they all have manual windows too?

I feel the same way nicks. I remember asking the Western Canadian Sales Overlord back in 90-91 what the 1LE was and what it cost and he never heard of it. What is wrong with GM? I found one fault there. The fella insists its real gave me the ser# I'll run it through GM Canada on tuesday. Should be interesting. He also stated 1 of 64, Anything I can find shows 6 TA's that year with the 1LE but that could be U.S. # and does'nt include Canadian Cars. Thanks for the help all, I'll post what GM tells me. At least my wife has no problem with me buying it if it is real. Put the goat on the backburner again.

but it would have been easier to add T-tops than air. Stupid, though...as aside from killing the value, the T-tops compromised the structural integrity to the point where handling suffered measurably. Good luck. Ron

I forgot you are in Canada. GM canada can tell you everything you need to know about the car. the 1 of 64 might be as a black, 5-speed, t-top, Trans Am, which is rare, especially in 92. There was one locally around 97 or so that the guy jsut couldnt seem to sell- advertised it for 3 years or so - and I know i should've bought it but I did not.
Also on the 1LE part, more Camaro's than Firebirds had it, and if it was on a firebird most of the time it was on a Formula since it didnt have extra weight from the gfx. In 1991 there were 46 formula 1LE and 6 Trans Am 1LE. In 1992 there were 22 formula 1LE and 9 trans am 1LE cars. Keep us updated, and if its a nice clean car, tell your wife it's rare anyway and buy it

oh and another thing, I know for a fact that a lot of 91-2 Trans am with the 305tpi/auto got an alum d/s standard. Something to due with curb weight of the car or somthing. All three of mine have had it.

Appears the guy found out something or was full of B**L. Asked for a photo of the Service parts sticker and he said sure, than he couldnt find it but will look and never heard from hin again. Oh well it's all ok as a friend sold me a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 for $500. Canopy is worth more. Patience and timing payed off again.
