Hi all...Im swapping out my chain with a double roller, when we get #1 on TDC the cam dot is at 12 o`clock and crank is at 12 also. What cylinder would be TDC to have the cam dot at 6 and the crank at 12? The manual shows this on how to line up marks but doesnt say what cylinder is TDC.

With the dots at 6 and 12 cylinder #6 will be firing. I always puts the dots at 12 and 12 and install the distributor so the rotor is pointing to #1 spark plug wire.

Its the same either way because the crank turns twice while the cam turns once.
The Pontiac manuals show 6/12 in some years and 12/12 in some years. Doesnt matter. |

If you use the cam @6 and crank @ 12, just have the rotor point to the #6 post on the cap. (180 opposite #1)
