Default Ebay 70 455 GTO conv

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&ih=012Last night,a maroon 70 GTO conv 455 car /auto #1 car didnt hit its reserve but was bid up to 140,100?????
I know the ramair opton is rare, but what make this particular car so desirable??I have a sierra yellow car documented sandlewood interior w/brown conv top
w/auto w/o ACw/455HO.Mine is low option car.No PW,Pwr seat,Pwr locks.Does car color choice
make that much difference in value even if not original ??I've got good reasoning to know
as I am about to embark on a complete frame off restoration/ excursion,I also realize that for every person that rates their car a #1 only 1 in 20 is actually a #1

P.S. I also have a N.O.S.set of Judge in G.M. packaging eyebrows for both sides for yellow/green car.I believe
these were available dealer installed as these have accessory part numbers on boxes packaged as one p.n.
per side of car.

Shill bidding explains it. Never trust the bids on Ebay. $140k and it didn't meet reserve? That's ridiculous.

I agree ,but but do you know what the high average sale price on e-bay is on these cars?

This car has been on and off ebay for months and at the Atlantic City auction with no sale. Looks like a near perfect restoration and a very rare car but it just doesn't seem to get the money the guy is asking.

My guestimation is that car would sell for 50-100 k in todays slower market
w/a non-original black or saddle or sandlewood interior w/color inter matching top.
I understand a car can only be correct/matching invoice, but dont it seem that maroon ext/red int a wierd color match???

Default 455 conv

That car hit 137K at auction in Borgata ac, in a really bad market. It can be looked up.It was on ebay last dec twice, and then scammed 15 or 20 times after that for low buy it now.

One could say maroon with red is odd but don't forget those were the days of any color combo you wanted. If you wanted maroon with green interior they would have built it.

The seller should have taken the $137,000 as that seems a very good price for a car like that considering Judge convertibles are struggling to get $150 to $175 now.

Default Burgundy

I was told that the car was ordered burgundy with red interior so it would come with buckets. If black was ordered it would have a bench seat. They had no red bench in 70.

Default 70 GTO

Please don't take me wrong,I love maroon on that car and the restoration looks flawless.
But I could't imagine in my wildest dreams those cars were actually bringing six figures.
I always thought most 70 convertibles were heavily optioned A/C cars.To say the least I'm quite impressed after selling a 30k survivor 64 GTO auto on column in the 1980's for
$7500.00 @ Kruse in Auburn and we had restored (on frame) two others both 4-speeds in earlier years one for 5k and the other for close to 9k @the Indy car corral in the late 80's.Thanks for your inputs!

Buy the way my car is going back to the sienna yellow/sandlewood combo w/brown top.Maybe a sleeper combo
but the 455HO decals on front fenders in black should stand out well.Would you guys put the nos eyebrow stripes
on car?

I owned this car for a brief time before selling it to the current owner I can attest to it's originality, it is a super rare car indeed, no 455 matching number ram air conv's have changed hands publically in a long time , it is worth alot more than normal. The curent owner is a straight up guy I don't believe shill bidding is his style.
