Exclamation Disc Brakes Conversion

I hear that an S-10s disc brakes will fit on the 67 firebird with no mod's need. If this is true what year and make of the S-10 do you need to do this?

This last Sunday I tried mounting my vintage (14x7) Torq Thrust American Racing Wheels on my father in laws 1988 S-10.
They fit. The rotor diameter is 10.50". Now whether the rotor and caliper bracket will mount to your spindle or the whole s-10 setup, I dont know.
Id contact Mark@ www.Scarebird.com He'll set you up.

If you are talking about rear disc brakes, here is the article at High Performance Pontiac.
http://www.highperformancepontiac.co...kes/index.html
It is a bolt in swap with NO machining required for 10 and 12 bolt gm diffs. You will need to pull the axels to get the backing plates off/on. You can use 4wd or 2 wd parts, only difference being in the backing plates positioning of the caliper. 2nd gen firebirds use 1 2wd backing plate and 1 4 wd backing plate because of the staggered rear shocks. This swap uses 98-02 chevy/gmc truck/suv rear disc parts.

umm, 67-69 Firebirds are rear steer, while 82-95 S-10's are front steer.

Temp, good luck with your disc brake upgrade! I am doing the same except on a 68 camaro although I am using 79 seville rear caliper brackets ws6 calipers and rotors and standard single piston front setup from a 69 camaro BTW my younger brother is stationed at Whidbey Commander David Slayton USN.

Do you know the GM part numbers for the correct backing plates(one 2wd and one 4wd) for use on a 2nd gen ta? and which side uses what

I posted the info you need in this thread:
http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d.php?t=518454

I also had pics of the install, but the site hosting the pics closed and I haven't had a chance to find another place to upload them.
