Ok!


I have to give 2 thumbs up to the Lebanon Race (in N Y) state track and this is why:

I had been used to florida flat terrain and terrific heat and humidity! But this race day we all had winter jackets on. I bypassed the consession stand to get a taste of the track. The first thing i saw was a dragster. In that part of NY state its full of small mountains and such. When he hit the gas the sound of his engine it bounced off the mountain side and it was wild!!!! More then just reverb, a delay bounce! I was like...OH YEAAHh!!!!!



So then I trotted over to the consession stand.

They old school it by taking the potato and cutting it up with this thingy, that makes for a great french fry, not frozen and its much better. Even the cheeseburgers were the best i had at any track and even at some restaurant. they get 4 out of 4 stars there.

The Pinks episodes were kool!

The buick has it's starter break and it missed (lost) one race on acccount of it had to install a new one. They only had 15 minutes to do it. I was 3 rows back in front of the pick up truck that when on a practice leave his truck jerked and his rear end shattered all over the track, fluid and all! They didn't get that cleaned up as well as they thought cause the next guys that tried that lane almost kissed the jersey barrier at upwards of 70+ mph. So they used this high performance heat fan or what ever and made like 6 passes on it. WHen the show goes along, its fine, but when crap breaks and stuff your waiting there in 40 degree weather. the place was PACKED!! I bet 20 bucks on the Buick, and when it had no starter I was like..Oh crap there goes my 20! lol But I won it. LOTS of gambeling going on in the stands during that pinks episode.

I don't want to ruin it for everyone, so for the next 2 races you gotta watch.

I was sitting at about the 50 to 100 foot line in the 3rd row. I got there early to save my seat wikth my box of cheeseburgers.

They gave a little radio scanner out to the first 2000 people, nobody around me could get the reception.


Anyway, next year I will be in the Point race up over there!!

The Valleys not a bad track I dont particularly like the beer there but hey I never went there for that. It is (like the rest of upstate ) a great place to visit but I wont live there anymore. Ive got similar scenery better weather and a lot more nice tracks here(though most are 1/8th mile). And the politicians dont rob us either!

Yeah, I rather the 1/4 mile over the 1/8th.

They ran out of beer before 6 pm i heard, people were pissed, many brought their own beer.

I only live a couple of hours from Lebabon Valley, maybe I will see this spring what the Pdude 455 can do

When and where did you you live in NY? I'm planning a move to Tennessee someday. I've been looking at Cumberland County or point further east.

I grew up in WNY then Lived in Rome for about twenty years then to the bottom of the "Tug" in Lee Center. Been here a year and a half. M'boro is kinda flat but less than 10 miles in any direction is much like Mohawk Valley lower Adirondacks region. I'm about dead center of TN. WAY cheaper to live here. NO income tax low property tax,(Mines $859.00 on $159000 assesment. TOTAL! My sister pays 1/3 that near Lynchburg with 5 acres and similar home as mine 16-1700sq ft) and sales tax varies by county. Been here a year and a half. KY border area gets much more rain/foul weather than here for some reason. So does the Eastern side in the mountains. Not as humid here either. And more Sunny days than I ever saw in NY for sure.I'm less than an hour south of Nashville.

I'm up here in a small town called Gansevoort, about 50 mile north of Albany. Between Saratoga and Lake George. I have a really good job and a nice place. I've been considering slowing things down and doing more with the car stuff. I little warmer can't hurt either!! Actually one of the reasons the CrossVille (Cumberland Country) has been thought of is because there is a 1/4 mile track in Crossville and the temperatures are about 10 degrees cooler then the rest of Tennessee (yah - I'm a Northsman)

How's the Bass fishing down in TN?

There is an 1/8th mile track in Crossville which is in Cumberland County which is pretty popular. I am originally from Crossville and can also verify the bass fishing is great especially in the smaller ponds if you can get in them you can catch monsters. I personally know a guy that caught two 10+ at the state park several years ago. I am hoping to take the bird down this year for a weekend of fun and see how the hometown racing is nowdays and show them an 8 second pontiac powered bird.

Sounds great Bass Fishing and drag racing ! Due you have any information on the track... web site?? I'm looking to get down there some time in the fall 2008 fro a "vacation" / drag racing. Looking for a camp ground near by with showers

There are more tracks. MTD is old school southern track in a narrow gully and a few small bleachers. Music city is all concrete neat place. Stopped by US43 last week but was a all bike meet seems a nice facility. cant find a web site. All within 2 hours fo me by the way. State parks are free with reasonable camping rates. What they call cabins are 3 bedroom 2 bath fully equipped homes with all appliances tv vcr dvd satelite just bring food and clothes about 99 a night in season. A wife could never object to that kind of campin no matter what weather. You can pick up a fishin license at most conveniant type stores, and if your a hunter you can get ammo at the corner store too! We wont tell on you if you take a trunkload of fireworks back to NY. They dont try to protect us from ourselves as much as NY does.(MY Neighborhood rivaled better than any firemens Field Day display in NY and that was just the neighbors not the comunity displays.) This place is almost too much fun. (Thats not allowed up there. Put up, shut up and pay your taxes, if you got enough money for fun than your cheatin on your taxes)

I was at Pinks Friday Night. I had a good cold weather time.

I wanted to go Saturday but I couldn't make it. Everyone I talked to said Saturday was better.

Saturday a couple of the local guys spoke to Nate and Rich about setting up an All Out event for next year. Who knows if it will happen or not. The event this past weekend was supposed to take place at New England Dragway but from what we heard there were some contract issues and they decided to move it to LVD. Apparently the show is very demanding in what it requires. At LVD they were also unhappy that some of the racers quit after the track became too slick. From what I heard from the local guys that spoke to Rich and Nate the Pinks crew thought that this Northeast experience made them unsure if they will come up here again. I don't know what they expected for the middle of October at night in the Northeast.

Great for night racing in late July early August or daytime in May or September. Warm track cool air.
