Default 1960 hydro noise???

Does the 60 hydro have a whine to it when its in low gear and at low speed? Mine does, and seems like I remember my parents 60 S-Chief doing the same thing. Still searching for my low volume cyclic howl (?) that starts around 20 mph and then continues, but not as noticeable at higher speed after about 40. Car is going up on a hoist for some "listening" time this Thurs------hopefully. Hope I don't have a major trans issue.

Thx for any feedback.

Im working on a 60 Bonnevile at work. I noticed when I have driven it around the building it seems to have a slight whine at low speed also.

I assume that's the Strato-Flight 'Super Hydramatic' transmission? I ran one of those (from a '58) for a few months back in the sixties. I don't recall any whine in any of the four gears (it was freshly rebuilt), but I've had, what- 40 years?- to forget just what it sounded like!

Most older units do have an audible noise/whine in 1st gear due to the planetary gears being used. You also hear it in reverse.
