Hello maxilo,
I see you are new to the forum. Welcome to the all things PONTIAC world. The 1971 model 455HO engines are the ones with the 197 heads. The 1972 model 455HO engine has the 7F6 head. If you are interested in a complete 197 head engine, occasionally someone has one to sell. They are pretty scarce though and usually fairly expensive. I suspect you mean renewed (as in rebuilt) instead of reviewed. May be a little translation thing going on there. Where in the world are you?

Hi Maxilo,
I can only surmise that you must own a '71 Pontiac Firebird that originally came with the 455HO engine. I assume you are looking for another one to put back in your car? Since it won't ever be a number matching engine for your car, do you have any preference as to whether it is for a 4-speed (WL or WC code) or an automatic (YE code)?

The best advice I can tell you is to browse right here (70-73 Firebird & TA Tech_455HO Forum) often.

Just about everybody here will copy and paste a link from eBay or wherever we see 455HO stuff for sale.

Probably not a lot of Pontiac parts available in Holland? Here's some parts on eBay here in the states. I'll PM ya if I see a complete engine for sale.

As originally produced as '71 455 HO engines, there are
- 3 different 2 letter block codes,
- 3 different block casting codes depending on date cast
- 2 different styles of 197 casting heads, early and late...
- very expensive 455 HO specific Quadrajets that never go with an engine
- an expensive distributor, that came in 5 production dates.

Consideing what factory round port engines go for in nice rebuildable shape, Maxilo, you probably ought to be more specific with what you believe you need.

Unless you are absolutely dead set on having everything 100% 455HO, I would consider building any complete 455 that is rebuildable. Hang a good set of forged rods and pistons on the crank. If you still want to go with a set of HO heads & intake, you could.Putting an HO engine together a piece at a time is cost prohibitive for most of us. Not having the original (born with) engine knocks the value off about 15%. But, putting in a numbers & date correct HO engine won't put you back in @ the top price either. It's not the original. NO CIGAR!

If it's just a want to thing, It's your money. You can have a neck snapping 400+ HP engine for considerably less than what you will spend on true HO parts.

The last complete used 455HO I saw for sell was more than 5 years ago and the guy wanted $9,000 US dollars for it. It was probably a pieced together engine. The date codes were all over the place on it.

You asked if I will help you find a 1971 455HO engine. I will, if that is what you really want?

Maxilo, I am doing an HO, but as Pinionhead and HO said on #'s, parts & cost..... If not hung up on matching numbers and dates, any early 70's 2 bolt 455 will be already drilled for 4 bolt, and rather than a spendy & hard to find "HO" block, 4 bolt caps can be added to a 2 bolt block (what I did) on a YC 1971 block (align bore rqd.). I spent 2000 on 71 HO heads and 700 on 71 intake. Had block and all misc parts also. I expect to have $6-8000 in build maybe when done on top of heads & intake parts cost, so 10K engine ballpark maybe. Forged psitons and rods and roller valvetrain is almost half of that cost. A "stock parts" build could be substantially less. Yes I will have a "mutt" engine but do not care, it will make equal fun as any.

Yep, rare as hen's teeth Mike. 1972 455HO fitment only. PN 487196 for the thermostat coil.

A bit of bad news on HO build, after disassembly of 455 block, hard use 20 years ago showed bad spot on main on crank one location, bearing failure of some sort. Looks salvageable, will have machinist report on in a few days.... Question for y'all: for a quality build, would you have issues with using a turned down crank or would you buy a Butler (Eagle?) new one? Is 71 factory crank now...

Always fun to guess about what "type" of shop "restored" a car...
This one has MOPAR Shop all over it, just like the white paint! ( it is one step above undercoating though LOL)

I didn't know MOPAR guys painted their cloth door panels, or used the wrong year seat covers when correct ones are available. Wrong year lower door panels I sort of understand because correct ones are hard to find. I do know they like hood pins. I hate hood pins. Looking at the guage the gas tank must be really big.
