Good story and good score on a unique car! it's risky but fun driving a new purchase home over a long distance. I like to bring a bag of tools along with duct tape and black tape for insurance.

thanks guys. i probably paid too much for this car, original block gone, pq trans gone with it , rust around back window under vinyl top, hit in left rear -by door jam. gonna require new quarter. on the plus side, i got the 197 heads, 270 carb correct 71 intake an nos left rear quarter and the rest of the body is A-1. all 4 kr wheels there too-dont no how they managed to stay around. ill get serious about the body work late winter early spring. i got the subframe out and will detail over the winter. need to find correct ye 4 bolt block!! here are some more pics i took the night i left from austin. the gto in the pic is a real ram air 67. kooter want!! 3 years ago though and i havent been in contact with them since.

Hey Kooter, welcome and great story on getting the car home, and I was wondering about possibly driving the car to the Dallas area! I remember the guy saying the motor had been rebuilt and was pretty stout, sounds like you found that out first hand. Post more pics when you can and keep us updated on it. You should have a built-in advantage for your Pure Stock Drags build, being that Dan Jensen, Scott Tiemann and the Weymouths are in your back yard.

As a matter of fact, are you aware that DJ just bought a Laurentian Green '71 455HO Formy M22 car? He's building it for the PSD's as well.

Congratulations. Looks like a great car. Definitely a good starting point if it was able to make the drive home. How long ago was that car for sale? Probably before I got the bug earlier this year. I doubt I would have missed one like that considering I am in Austin.....

Mike, I can't recall exactly where Mark's HO Formy came from, but originally it was a Royal car.

i bought the car almost 3 years ago and its been sitting while i hunt parts and work on other peoples cars and be lazy. the sweet ta belongs to my friend smaman who posted a while back about the other green formy. we just finished it this past summer. still needs some small details like paint marks and decals but hard work is done. 71 auto no ac all numbers.

What sucks:

It was likely restored by a non-Pontiac guy.

There's NO mention of cars origin or how much rust needed to be removed.
Being from the east coat,it SURELY had it's share.

Even with it's issues,I still like it.

Needs MORE BETTER pics.

Wonder if there will be any takers at 50 grand,a week before Christmas in todays economy.

2Many, you have spent waaay too much time out west looking at Van Nuys cars. I think I have pretty good data to suggest the following;

Park Lamp fillers were body color on most all 70s
They were body color on Van Nuys 71s
They were silver on Norwood 71s

I would be interested in anyone else's observations on known original cars - Might be worth starting a new thread....

I've seen numerous 70-73's with argent/silver fillers & just assumed that they had been replaced and left in the color that they came out of the box in.

When I replaced them on my 70 T/A in the mid 80's,I left them that color (natural) & quite liked it that way. (a bit more contrast going on)

Do we have any cold hard facts to back this up,or was it just that they ran out of certain colors for a short time?

How about 72's & 73's? (obviously plastic valance equipped birds were body color)

my original 71 ho 7/71 built Norwood car has argent fillers. This car had been sitting in a field for 20 years(the owner was sent to prison).I bought it from this guys father.2nd owner from mid 70's, every single original piece still intact. EVen all the hoses and belts were original production pieces. could it have been changed, maybe, but would have been surprised considering how original every other componant has been.. but as i learned a long time ago, we all think we have original cars and over 40 years a lot can be changed and still look aged as if it was original...

Argent Silver parking lamp fillers would be correct on this car, IMO.

However, to add to the list - incorrect engine color and of course the non-OE exhaust system.
