Hi schneidsd455, been going through the history files for the car! Wow your right, a guy named Nicholas Stevenson owned it from mid 84 for a while (lived in the Solihull area). Small world!!! There was another white Formula SD imported to the UK along with 5 other SD cars I believe, during 73 & 74. A GM dealership in London run by a guy called Steven Ouveroff imported all of them. The other white car was written off in the eighties. The only other SD to be imported was the red 74 I have. It was brought in by the MD of a GM parts dealership and used as a promo vehicle for years. So I think eight SD cars in total. Dont suppose you still have the pictures handy? Would love to see them.

Hi johnta1, Yes sir thats the type. So the only 2 engines that had the smaller gear on the cam were the SD and the RA V? Havent got a clue what this cam is about then! Its got the smaller cam gear and the SD lobe profiles and all the markings are identical to the NOS SD cam I have and it was removed from an untouched 74 SD motor, but it has an "A" stamped into the end?? It doesnt really matter, but it would be nice to know why..............

Of course, some of the lobes would be incorrectly "positioned" for the E-I-I-E-E-I-I-E valve positions on an SD engine. Hmmmmm . . . Very nice collection you have, UK SD!

Hey Lloyd.......check this out.
Remember we talked about the original owner of my '73(Guy Mabee) and his involvement with Carroll Shelby. Here's the "blog" with very interesting history. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/?p=1248

The 1st supposedly non-production 1973 SD cam stamped with a 'K', maybe mis-read as an 'A'?
Maybe they had an export cam for the SD's?

Is it possible to track down previous owners of vehicles in the US, so that you can try and get some old photos of your car?

It's been a couple of years since I talked to Mr. Stephenson (Stevenson), but I'll look when I'm at work and PM you his contact info. The picture with the people in it was titled, "Me, Nick, and Granddad with Superduty." I'm assuming that Nick is the guy in the foreground with the white t-shirt. As far as my car, I've tried doing a little investigative research in tracking down previous owners. I do know that the original owner and second owner (who owned the dealership that sold my car) have both passed away. After that, the car changed hands quite a few times in the 80s, but I haven't been able to find those people, despite having their names. Everyone has moved, making tracking difficult at best. I have talked to the 2 owners previous to my owning the car, but that only gets me back to about 1994. I'd like to hear the story from one of the owners during the late 80s/early 90s who wrecked the car. #8 cylinder has been sleeved, left quarter, right fender, and hood have been replaced. Car was repainted and engine rebuilt in early 90s. When I got the car, it had 6 leaf springs on right side, 5 on the left, as well as a few other mods. I've got this vision in my head of an engine blowing and the car running into a track wall. Either that, or something involving cans of beer. It does intrigue me.

that 'K' cam 480737 isn't listed in any of my 74-77 parts books. The only places I have seen it is the front of the parts book engine discriptions for early 73 and in repair manual for 73. from all I've talked too the cam was not released(Pete Mc etc).Again I've been looking for mention of the 'A' cam and can't find anything.I know there are at least 4 SD blocks with the cam driven oil pump w/ exterior adj pressure. My friend Phil from PGh had one in his SD car(bought later not original) the car has been sold recently but is in Butler Pa. area.

Just wanted to bring this topic back to the top so it doesn't get lost in back pages.

Not really much significance but interesting......
Pics of the bonneville car/road race cars built and driven by the man who originally bought the SD I own. He bankrolled and raced with Carroll Shelby back in the 50's.
