On that Lucus additive it says to drain the oil after 1000miles. As I said above, Nunzi recommends adding that EOS every oil change. I wonder if it could hurt anything if a guy left that Lucus zinc additive in? My guess would be that Lucus is worried about the catalytic converter?

It could be that they are worried about the cats, but maybe they say that simply because it is for break in and that's when you would change your break in oil?? I don't claim to be any expert, just thinking out loud.....

I went to my local speed shop (Vic Hubbard) and picked up some Comp Cams break-in concentrate. Same stuff in principle as GM EOS. Someone was selling a case (12) of EOS on eBay and it was up to $215 and not even done...silly. What was even sillier was for GM to discontinue selling the product during mass public awareness of the zinc problem...I digress.
This month's HPP has a great article, including interviews with leading lubricant mfrs about their zinc levels and their long term product plans. The net is this, use Rotella (CJ formulation is fine - still 1200 PPM) and add a break-in lune like Crane or Comp at EVERY oil change from here to eternity (or life of motor, whichever comes first).
