That's what I did with my '64 389. Worked like a charm.

seems that there is a trade-off between bearing or bushing. the downside of the bearing is that when it fails, it really frickin fails. seems that others feel that a bushing can be tough on the needle bearings in the trans.
but... i think people lose sight of it's function and what makes a bushing/bearing work hard.... bellhousing alignment is so important. remarkable that some people don't even check it. i suspect that bushings get blamed for needle bearing failure when it was actually the fault of bad bellhousing alignment. my vote is proper bellhousing alignment & bushing, but IMO bushing/bearing choice is far less important than proper alignment. |

The 7109 bearing is only sealed on one side.
The 6202-2rs bearing is sealed on both sides. It has the same ID and OD as the 7109 but is a little deeper. |

Is the 6202-2rs bearing a better choice??? Will it hurt anything because it is a little deeper??? Where can I get these bearings??? Local parts stores carry these????
Thanks again, Dave PS Boy, I really like reading all the replies about this...Lets have more, I am learning a lot of stuff. |

I have never had a problem running the 6202.
Your local bearing supplier should have both of them. |
