I know it breaks your heart to bring it home and not have paint on it. I hope your painter will jump back on it for you as soon as you are able instead of pushing you to the back of the line as most would do.

Yeah, I wish it was finished, but there is a lot I can do to it while I wait. I can put all the stuff back under the dash and finish the engine compartment. The front fenders were bolted on for the trip home. I will take them off so as not to mess them up while I am working on the car.

Looking good Phil!My body guy tacked in the pass side rear 1/4 lower patch this weekend. Thanks for the shot of the rear of your car...my body guy wondered if any trimming needed to be done to the bottom of the patch where it extends past the trunk lower extension.Your rear pic shows no trimming needed!

Well, I went to the car show yesterday. Man, it was cold. It was 25 when we got there and only got up to 50. With the 10-15 mph breeze it was almost unbearable.
Anyway, I bought my firewall pad, steering column seal and two headlight retainer rings. I looked at two air cleaners. One was $200 and the other was $75. I offered $50 for the second one but the owner wouldn't take it. So, I spent $50.00 total. And that brings this weeks figures. Labor 261 hrs...........=$5,220.00 Parts......................=$7,340.19 Outside labor...........=$3,300.00 Total....................=$15,860.19

It looks good to me. I can't tell where he made the cuts to splice in the old panel, nor can I tell where the lower patch panel was welded in. I am very pleased with his work.

With it being a holiday, I didn't actually do any work on the car this week. I did buy a few parts. I got a new heater core, thermostat, fuel sending unit sock, A/C heater box seal kit, A/C vacuum diaphragm and window felt kit. This came to $239.74. So,here are my current totals.
Labor 261 hrs..........= $5,220.00 Parts.................... = $7,579.93 Outside labor......... = $3,300.00 Total...................= $16,099.93

Here we go again. Another week and nothing done. I was going to start on the heater box rebuild today but it was too damp and cool to paint. So I worked in the yard all day.
Maybe tomorrow. After I put up Christmas decorations.

Well, it has been a lousy week. It was cold until Thursday. Then we got 5.9"s of rain in one day. Then it turned cold again. On top of that I had to set up for a garage sale on Saturday.
The forecast is for temps in the upper 70's all week so, hopefully, I can get something done. I was going through the new parts that came with the car and was pleasantly surprised to find a receipt for the gas tank straps that noted they are stainless.

I did get a chance to go through some of the parts that came with the car and found a receipt for the gas tank straps. It stated that they are stainless so I shouldn't have to worry about them. And, on a side note, I typed this reply 3 times before I remembered to post it!

Well, I was able to put all of three hours into the car last week. I fixed the ground wire on the fuel sending unit and put it in the gas tank. I also installed the firewall insulation pad and did some repair work on the heater box.
If Santa is good to me I may have some more to do to the car. My labor 264 hrs.....=$5,280.00 Parts....................=$7,579.93 Outside labor.........=$3,300.00 Total...................=$16,159.93

I'm at a similar point in my resto on my 66. This is a great thread, and I've spun off it down many side trips.
Was wondering what you were using between the tank and the trunk floor. I decided to go with regular roofing "tar paper". I'm using strips under the straps also. You can see a few pics of my project in my profile. Keep postin! ![]()
