I saw Arnie & that firebird back when he first started racing it at my first car show. I was about 9 or 10 & my big brother took me. It was in Sterling Ill. Arnie lives in a small town just a few miles from their. His orange GTO Judge was also on show. It was at my high school. He did a burnout for show & broke his transmission. It was my first smell of burning rubber. Never knew back then I would love GTO's later in life. If I'd only started collection parts back then.

Notice in the video there's a Hemi in the car. This video was discussed in a previous thread, and I thought it was a R.A. V but it's not. Steve Barcek would have more info, but I think it's possible this may not be Arnie in this particular car, but his other driver that had the other car?

I have the official 1/18th Diecast of the BOSS BIRD by ERTL and it has the RAM AIR V not the HEMI. On the box it states Arnie Beswick put Jet Cars on the Trailer and even high dollar Competitors.

Well then it MUST be true!

Wareagle, since you believe everything you read, how bout this article from a 1971 Funny Car magazine. Note the "Hemi" on the front spoiler. this one is "Mr B's Hemi tractor"

It's my understanding there were two cars originally. The Hemi powered one was driven by someone else, not Arnie. It was not uncommon for big name drivers to have more than one car and have a 2nd or 3rd driver. These drivers participated in the then very popular match race circuit, and the more cars you had, the more bookings you could fulfill. Jungle Jim did the same thing. As to why the die-cast doesn't have the Hemi? I'm sure Arnie had a say in that, and a Pontiac mill in there would sell better, especially amongst the Pontiac faithfull fans.

I'm Pretty sure Arnie Behling(sp?) was the other driver, I would have to look into it more. Arnie Beswick also drove a 70/72 Cuda Funny car near the end of his early racing days, he bought out a team who was in over there heads, could be where a second car came from? could have put a Boss Bird body on the Cuda Chassis? The Boss Bird Did have Ram Air V power when first built anyways.

It was'nt that--you did hear of that certain fire that destroyed most of Arnies stuff--devastating. Also In one article I read it stated that the RAM AIR V Head outflowed the HEMI.
