My Pops has some pics of the Boss Bird w/a RA5 when he and his buddy picked up a 428 steel crankshaft, matter of fact Paul Spotts bought the block from him.

It's on his Video. It was around the same time he bought the "Ramchargers" Dodge Challenger funny car because he "wanted to run HEMI power". According to the video, it was about this time or shortly after, the new building burned.

Arnie lost everything in the fire...racing equipment and farm equipment. Racing equipment wasn't insured. High-dollar farm equipment was insured but they paid a fraction of what he had in it because it was "used". He was in such a financial hole from the fire that there was no racing after that....until sometime in the late 80's.

I've got a picture or two somewhere of Arnie's Mopar bodied flopper (it's either a '71 Cuda or Challenger, can't remember which). It too was Hemi powered. Like I said, it wasn't so much about being competitive with one power source or another, it was about bookings. Arnie was already running Pontiac power, and with the extra cars added to the stable, leaving them Hemi powered just made more sense than switching them to Pontiac power. By 1971, Arnie wasn't competitive anyway at NHRA meets. Match race bookings made the money, and Arnie had been steeped in that for quite a while by 1971. Jungle Jim was also another big name (as I said before) in match racing circles, who also campaigned more than one car. Match racing funny cars in the 70's was a boon, it wasn't unusual for them to hold races on a Wednesday night, then travel for a Friday night race, followed by a Saturday and Sunday race.

Brian i know what you mean "Some people you just can't reach"LOL! The guy here local, who collects vintage Drag Cars, Had Both of Jungle's 69 Nova Funny Cars, Jungle's and the one Driven by Clare Sanders, both basically indentical, he had them both restored, then sold them as a pair!

No, BOTH of my pontiacs have pontiac motors in them, 30 over 400 (406ci) and 030 over 455 (462ci) , 66 Lemans and 63 Tempest. what does yours have?

If it's a Canadian Pontiac, it'll have a Chevy.

You are aware that Canadian Pontiacs built for sale solely in Canada were equipped from the factory with Chevy engines (with a few exceptions), are you not?

Yes--they were a joke but no 64-74 GTO , 69-76 T/A , and Grand Prix's uptill about 76 had a Chevy engine. Just your big lead sleds like Pariesienes and the fugly Beaumonts had Chevy engines.

Actually, it's a shame the '69 Chevelle sold in the States didn't look like the Beaumont. I thought the Beaumont had a better grille treatment, but so did every Pontiac that shared a body with Chevy.
