I removed my A frames yesterday to replace my bushings, and found my coil spring broken on my 79 trans am. My Question is, I'm about to replace the 403 with a 455 poniac motor, do I need a different spring rating or just use a spring rated for the 403 W/air? and where is the best place to buy them from?
Thanks Bob |

403 or 455 spring would be the almost the same rating. buy new ones in pairs based on best price at local auto store. must be ordered.

I have 2 choices, not sure if anybody had any experience with either one. Part number 5006 or 8002. The 8002 is suppose to be a heavy duty progressive spring, but looks like it has a lower weight load. autozone sells them, moog sell them. Not sure who makes them. The 8002 a few dollars more no big deal, just curious which one better and if it will change the height. The 8002 has a 1/2 more installation height. Not sure if that changes car height after car is lowered?
Any help would be appreciated Thanks Bob |
