Default Look what I found!

Guy's
I found a pair of heads, intake and matching tri-power which the owner says is from a 62 or 64 421 SD.
The heads code is 536109. I couldn't tell what the intake or carb numbers were.

He's owned them for years and they look like it.

Would those and the tri power set up be an improvement in performance over the 77's
I have on my '65 389 with a Carter 750?
Would they even bolt up?

Thanks
Mike

536109 are NON-SD 1960 heads

1960 SD heads were 535461
1961 SD heads were 540306
1962 SD heads were 540306 or 544127
1963 SD heads were 9771980
There were no 1964 SD heads.

Those heads are good for a 1960 restorer, but no performance improvement for your car. The tripower intake is only good for 1960 or earlier engines.

The matching tripower will work with those 1960 heads. Combine with the a #6 hydraulic and long branch manifolds you'll have a 345 hp version 389. It would be a gain over a stock 4 barrel 389.
The carbs are worth a lot especially if the correct tags are still on them. I sold a set of 59 carbs missing tags and in need of a gasket set for $700.00 a few years ago.
The manifolds dont bring a heck of a lot money. However, a nicely restored manifold and carb setup with linkage can bring a surprising amount of money.

Thanks guys..
The owner wants 1000.00 for the whole thing.
Yes Bruce there are tags on all 3 carbs, just worn down.
Also, I forgot to mention the heads do have long branch manifolds on them too.
They have been in his shop for over 20 yrs. and they look like it. The heads and the carbs will have to be completely worked.
Which is no big deal if you guys think it would be worth it over than what i have now.

Mike
