Question 350kick-down cable attached to the pedal?

Just got my 72 Lemans running and took it out for a spin. It seemed to go through the gears awfully quick, so I started looking for the kick-down cable to adjust it. Not finding it on the carb, I traced it from the trans to the firewall where it entered the cab.

Under the dash I find a frayed steel cable and what looks to be a second cable mount on the throttle pedal. Being new to Pontiac's, is this how the cable is supposed to be attached or did I find some more Backyard Engineering?

This is correct for that car. Looks like you need a new cable.

Yep that's the way they did them on those cars.

BTW if you have a hard time finding a new one I have some on hand.

Thanks guys for the help and info. Let me call around to the parts stores and see what I can find. If they can't get it, I will drop you a line Jeff.
