GM bell housing bolt pattern
Is it possible to swap bell housings instead of using an adapter plate to bolt a 700r4 to a Pontiac block?

Is this a trick question?
700 does not come apart like straight shift. Transmission case is mostly one piece. Would be nice if it did though. |

Do a web search for Ultra-bell (i think is the name...).
They might have something to help you out.

There has never been a 700 behind a traditional BOP engine from the factory.
Adapters work fine, but do recommend a long set of dowels. |
